As one who mostly fishes with PTNs or GRHEs and one who rarely “resorts” to lures (although I confess there is lure box in my arsenal for Stillwaters) I was intrigued with these flies for a number of reasons:- 1) The name “MOP” suggested a fly to fish deep along the bottom of a lake or river bed where it would be Mopped up by bottom feeding grayling or trout. 2) The hot spot bead would act as a trigger to induce the take 3) The Xmas tinsel flash in the body extending beyond the rear of the hook would impart movement that would act as another trigger. 4) The suggestion that the profile resembles a caddis. After a single Spartic fell to a PTN fished below an adjustable dry dropper style early on in my afternoon session at my local trout lakes, it was followed by 2-1/2 hours of searching the water column with no luck. With one hour of my session remaining, exasperation dictated it was High Time to try a Chartreuse MOP as a single on the point with a 12’ leader. First cast made along the margins I allowed it to sink I inched it along the bottom and a solid hit resulted in a nice plump rainbow and thereafter I “Mopped“up a further 5 within the hour! Best 2 estimated at 4 to 5 lbs. Quite the session. Quite the fly!

The purchase of the flies during the Christmas and New Year period was conducted in a timely and efficient manner. The flies appear well made and will no doubt provide me with a cost effective and reliable product

Lovely engaging flies which as always are well tied and arrived promptly. A 4lb rainbow on the third cast emphasised their attractiveness. Great winter still water selection. I’d highly recommend.
