“This is a nice rack, but unfortunately one of the rods was damaged and bolts would not screw on properly due to gouges in the threads. This was not a shipping problem, but a quality control issue. I did manage to take it apart and reconfigure it into a functional system, but it took considerably more effort to put together due to poor quality control by the manufacturer.”
“I ordered the Salamander Archetype 3.0 Three Self Audio Rack to house my records and cd's. With the rack I ordered two sets of bookends and the multi-media drawer. While I received the cherry rack (the last one in stock) within two days of ordering, due to supply problems, I had to wait about 2 months to receive the book ends and drawer. I am not the sharpest pencil in the box but with a lot of hand holding from Salamander Customer Service, I was able to complete the assembly. I live the Archetype System and the new 3 tier compliments my 7 shelf Archetype equipment rack. I highly recommend the Archetype System. Versatile and beautiful, well thought out and engineered. “The rack is visually unobtrusive, which is what I want in a rack. It went together easily and I really like the fact that I could add an extra shelf and adjust to any shelf height I wanted, allowing heat-producing components to have more room to "breathe". When finished, with all of the bolts tightened down, it is very solid. On the corners, each shelf is sandwiched between rubber washers for vibration dampening. I could not directly evaluate how effective that is, but my system sounds great on these racks, with a great soundstage and imaging!”
