Pangea Audio Vulcan X-Brace 4-Shelf Audio Rack - Carbon Fiber Shelves Reviews

4.6 Rating 57 Reviews
“It looks and works perfectly. I had a problem with a bouncy floor - walk nearby on tippy toes and the cartridge needle would skip. Now I can jump up and down and land with a thud, no problem! Only advice: need better instructions on using the pointed leg leveling system once i's in place - NOT easy (though general assembly is a snap).”

“The packaging and internal protection of parts was exceptionally well executed. Other companies could learn from this extreme attention to details. As others have noted, assembly was very orderly, and the finished product is very sturdy and the braces certainly reduce, if not completely eliminate, side to side flex. I also procured two add on shelves which assembly was seamless with the main unit. The only momentary snag was when I went to finish up with the castors. From looking at the instructions, I first attempted to install those tapered objects, but realized that was not the proper fit. These are only to be used if you are going with the spikes. The castors come with flat washers that fit the bottom, to which, the castors screw into. Pangea may want to update the instruction sheet to demonstrate this difference. If there is a sonic advantage to the spikes, I am willing to sacrifice that difference with the castors for the ability to be able to more easily move the unit from time to time. The Pangea rack replaces what I believe is a Plateau rack (no label attached, so going by memory) which is over 30 years old and still looks brand new! . However, at this time. I needed an extra shelf and the extra sturdiness was a plus. I plan to remove the top shelf of the old Plateau rack and use it as a TV Stand. Now all I need to do is transfer my equipment from the old rack to the Pangea. This customer is quite satisfied and highly recommends this unit.”

“This rack holds all my heavy audio equipment and is still very stable. This is a steal at the price and should work well for any stereo system. It is modular and shelves can be added or subtracted and even altered in height with replacement pieces. Recommended. One note of caution: The rack x-brace pieces are not interchangeable with the X-brace amplifier stand pieces. The amplifier stand shelf is built to a different depth, so the distance between the side columns is different. WIth the racks, X-braces must be matched to their respective column height, however, all other rack components can be interchanged whether they have X-braces or not.”

“It happens. We are pretty experienced at putting together furniture in this house. We could not attach all 4 of the pole without them bending on one side. It was super frustrating and disappointing. I sent it back. I ordered another one.”

“Best value for a good looking component stand. I ordered in the carbon fiber finish and I personally think it's stunning. No tools needed for assembly and I am 100% ok with that. Once it's together though it is VERY sturdy and with heavy audio equipment on it, it is like it's built into the foundation of my house or has Vulcan's hammer on the bottom shelf. If your hesitant like I was, worried about build quality or if it was actually purpose built for heavy audio gear, I could say I was pleasantly surprised it is clever and includes thoughtful things like silicon dampers for in-between each leg and shelf, just take your time putting it together think about each step ahead of time and that your expensive system will be on it at the end. Highly recommend this and the speakers stands Pangea makes, all great quality for the price.”

“I fell for the Pangea brand three years ago when I tried thier extra heavy duty power cords whcih made a big difference on my Velodyne subwoofer and Krell amp. I also have my VPI turntable on one of their Vulcan turntable stands. It kicks but for that usage. I saw this new “Xâ€ rack in their newsletter and decided to give it a go, too. I's every bit as good as their other gear. Went together easily in like 30 minutes. Very sturdy and strong. Looks killer in my room.”
