“Build quality is top drawer. The sound is noticeably more detailed than the on-board pre-amp in my Technics SL-1500C, but I wouldn't call it game-changing. What I do like are the features and the flexibility this pre-amp offers. Can't wait to try a MC cartridge!”
“Does the job. Noise and hum are quite low. Can't hear either about a foot away from a speaker at a normal listening volume setting. I like the ability to connect two tonearms. I most enjoy the option of using the included XLR connectors for the connection from the Zphono outputs to my preamplifier inputs.”
“This is a remarkably good phono preamp for the money, very clean and quiet, even using the moving-coil input. Since my collection includes hundreds of mono LPs, I especially appreciate the inclusion of a mono switch. I recommend this to anyone looking for a phono preamp in this price range.”
“The Z-Phono XRM is an excellent phono preamp for the money. I'm using it with a Denon DL-103R moving coil cartridge, and I'm pleasantly surprised at the very low noise level of the moving coil input. It's hum-free with only a trace of hiss at full volume. At normal listening levels, it's dead silent. The preamp offers clean, detailed sound and the inclusion of a mono switch is a nice feature for those of us with a lot of mono LPs, since many line-level preamps do not have one, including my Benchmark HPA-4. The Z-Phono XRM should be strongly considered by anyone looking for a phono preamp in this price range.”
