“I've had this Marantz player for a few months, and I enjoy listening to a wide variety of music. Was able to get connected to a T-Mobile 5G gateway that I use for my wireless home network - on the 3rd try. The issue had to do with the security options the Marantz offers. Finally connected when I selected WPA2-PSK(AES), the last option I tried.
I'm retired, worked in electronics communications most of my career. The owner's manual is not supplied with the unit, you can download it from Marantz. I'm guessing the Marantz technical writers get bonuses for writing lots of stuff - the Owner's Manual is 159 pages. Some info is large print, and some isn't. Yes, lots of info, poorly organized in my opinion - very annoying.
Audio Streaming from the internet works well, but sometimes I have to hit the Internet Radio button on the remote a few times to get an output signal. Got the first station saved no problem but was stumped when I tried to save the 2nd station. Eventually got that solved the following day; chalk that up to the documentation. Getting connected via Blue Tooth was pretty easy, no complaints. I'm only using the CD, Bluetooth, and Internet radio, so I can't comment on the other input options.
The real weakness of this player is how it handles the multichannel layer of SACD's. What you get out is a down-mixed 2-channel ANALOG signal. (see pg. 53 of the OM). They also DISABLE the OPTICAL & COAXIAL outputs when the unit is playing the multi-channel layer of a SACD! My AV surround preamp can take the 2-channel ANALOG signal and create synthetic 'surround' but that is what I call 'poor mans' surround.
Marantz could fix this shortcoming with appropriate licensing & engineering, and inclusion of an HDCP compliant HDMI connector. That is a business decision.
Until then, I play all my multi-channel SACD's on a UBP-X800M2 Blu-ray player. I don't mind paying more for multi-channel SACD discs, but I want to hear them the way the sound engineers intended it to be played back. Discrete channels please.”
“Had this about a month now. Great build quality. As an internet music streamer it's good but you can get as goos for less money. Where the 30N excels is as a disc player. CD playback is outstanding with clarity and dynamics I've never heard from 16/44 redbook before. SACD's have the blackest background and the vocals and instruments sound like they're playing in my living room. If you have a large disc collection buy it. I'll never buy another.”
“I have the Marantz Model 30 integrated amplifier and tried the matching Marantz 30n Network player. I compared it to a Yamaha A-S1000 CD player and felt the Marantz 30n didn't sound as good. I returned the 30n Network player for a refund.”
