“A couple of months ago I thought I would experiment with some 12V supplies on my Arris wifi router. I ordered the ifi Power X initially. T he supplied adaptors were all too small and it took me another 10 days to get a set of larger adaptors...it turns out my router needs the Type B 6.3mm DC plug. Anyway, the power X DID make an improvement...a clearer sound with better imaging. Not huge but appreciable.
The thing is... the power X is only rated at 2A at 12V and the router requires a 3A 12V supply. So I ordered this Elite version, with the intent of trying them both out, and if the Elite was not significantly better I would return it.
It turns out that the Elite is considerably better than the X on the router...immediately more extended really really tight bass, much like a power amp upgrade. Plus everything else the X did and then some more. I hate having a $300 supply in such an' uncritical' application...but it really does offer value for money.”
“Very impressed with the base and imaging when I switched out the power supply plus from my idsdpro and installed the 15 volt elite. I never heard the signature but I am wondering if this power supply might be the equalizer. Will like hear from anyone who had the opportunity to listen to the signature side by side with the isdpro with the upgraded power elite running both.”
