Hana EL Moving Coil Cartridge, Low Output New Reviews

4.9 Rating 7 Reviews
I upgraded to the Hana EH from an Ortofon 2M Blue MM (too bright) and a Grado Prestige Gold MI (too dark). The sound is full-bodied, detailed and relaxed. It reminds me of the old Sumiko Blue Point HOMC I used for many years, back when it was $175. System is Rega P2 w/Groovetracer & Michell mods, Heed Quasar/QPSU, AR LS3, Parasound A21, ProAc DT8

This is a very nice sounding cartridge. I don't have any comparable cartridges to compare it with, but I certainly find this one the best I've used so far. Using with Ultra-deck, Rogue Sphinx v3, Golden Ear BRX.

The single best upgrade I have ever made to my system regardless of price. Replaced a Nagaoka MP150 with this cartridge and it beats it in every category. Can't recommend this enough.

nice cartridge handles delicate passages well, but a little weak on bass and dynamics

Thanks for your comments. Check your stylus pressure with a very accurate gauge to insure tracking. Also, be sure to adjust your impedance settings on your phono preamp. We have found that not all phono preamp settings are as accurate as we would like. Also, I have been told the Hana is lighter than many other moving coil cartridges. Our installers often add mass to the headshell in the form of metal shims in order to get the optimal stylus force applied.
