“Just got these, partnered with my Audiolab 6000.
Only a few listens in, fantastic sound. Great clarity, hearing so many sounds, effects and tones not heard before. Great for the low £229 price tag.”
“These are driven by my vintage NAD 7155 Receiver. Cut the treble back a hair to eliminate the "sharpness", and used the BASS EQ to make them sound great to my ear.”
“Amazing speakers at a crazy low price. I read lots of reviews before buying, and I am impressed. Paired these with a 10 inch Klipsch powered sub and Denon AVR-S650H integrated network receiver. Great package for a bit over $1k.”
“I purchased these speakers on a whim. AA had them on sale so I grabbed a pair.
Elac boxes these well with thick packing material and sturdy box. When taking them out of the box, the first thing you
notice is their heft. At about 13 pounds, they are as heavy as some of the 6" speakers in my collection.
When first powering these up, it was apparent a break-in is needed as they sounded a bit edgy. Playing on the TV they
sounded good. Sibilance on male and female voices are well controlled, there is little to no
chestiness on male vocals, female vocals did not sound shouty. You also get a sense of their imaging capability. Some
TV shows and commercials have a definite left and right in the sound track. After about 20 hours of playing movies and
watching TV, they started to loosen up.
Especially with music, I'm not even going to mention for the price, these speakers are flat out special.
Octave to Octave frequency balance is very good, very good detail, coloration is very low, imaging is very good there is
width, depth and space, Bass is very good for this size woofer but a sub is recommended in a larger room.
These are excellent sounding speakers and they are not broken in yet! They are neutral sounding , some folks may not like
this because no specific part of the frequency range sticks out. the speakers do not call attention to themselves.
I have a pair of Elac B6.2 purchased the same time as these. The B5.2 sound better. The B6.2 has some coloration in the
mid band that distracts its presentation. B5.2 highs are more presnet, midrange is its strong point, so sweet. Bass between
the 2 is similiar , B6.2 may go a little deeper but the bass quality is the same between the two.”
