One of the best Game of Thrones tours in Iceland. You could tell that the tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the series. He was able to act out all the parts and even told us one or two tales about the cast. We visited a few of the filming locations and you can see why the Game of Thrones producers chose these locations for some of the scenes in GOT, the natural beauty of the country brings the books to life. Iceland is truly the land of ice and fire and you can see how the country inspired George RR Martin to write the epic tale!

We were picked up from our guesthouse at around 9.30am and were dropped off at the main bus terminal where we exchange our e-ticket and boarded the truck. Our tour guide Astor was a Game of Thrones genius! Some of the stops were nearly an hours drive away, but we never got bored as he kept us entertained with fun facts about the cast and TV series. His English was perfect and I don’t think we would have enjoyed the tour half as much without him. We visited 4 filming locations in total. There should have been a 5th stop, however the road was completely blocked by snow (a downside to visiting in winter). Bit disappointing but you can’t control the weather! Lunch (not included in the price) was at a roadside café which only sold chips, chicken, hotdogs and burgers. Not great for vegetarians! Make sure you take some money with you, or you can take a packed lunch as long as you don’t mind eating it while at one of the stops (no food was allowed on the bus). We were dropped back at our hotel by around 6pm, so were able to also fit in the Northern Lights tour that evening too. Perfect when you’re trying to fit as much as possible into only a few days.
