“So far (1 week) so good, awesome boots, the leather is top notch, so too the assembly & stitching, they’re lighter & more flexible than a trad walking boot, the Vibram sole pattern is great on both soft mud & clambering down granite Cornish cliffs, (composition durability yet to be proven), they’re high enough to provide some ankle support but not to restrict ankle movement, super comfy, will need some breaking in around my little toes (despite Härkila saying these are for wide feet my little toes are getting slightly squished but I anticipate the leather will accommodate). Happy bunny generally. I have tweaked mine a little, firstly given them a once-over with some Härkila mink oil (they’ve turned a darker chestnut shade) because I anticipate they will be used walking the dog in wet grass (wellies are aggravating my Achilles tendinitis), swapped out the insoles for some Enertor walking soles (super comfy with a bit more bounce) & replaced the laces with some 160cm alternatives. (My one beef with these shoes is that they came supplied with extraordinarily long laces, 195cm in one boot & 240cm in the other, which means about 50cm & 1m surplus lace respectively. What are you supposed to do with all this? Obvs the 240cm was a one-off factory mistake but 195cm? Seriously?) I do wish these Härkila boots came in half sizes, the 9/43, my current size, (I have no idea why the 11/46 reference above is there), is a little too big, the 8/42 a little too small. Differences exacerbated by my having one foot a half size bigger than the other. But hey, nothing a slightly thicker (or an extra) pair of socks or indeed a thin added insole can’t sort. Basically, a couple of tiny teething niggles aside, I anticipate many years of good service ahead with these Ledges, they’re fine-looking, quality boots & should last. They come with a 2 year guarantee also, so I can’t quibble with that. Thumbs up from me & black shadow Mowg (a black working lab)!”
