Prime Time is brewed to a low ABV using a blend of innovative techniques that allow us to retain maximum flavour with only a fraction of the alcohol (0.3%). Our Belgian brewing partner is a Brewing Engineer (a masters that only exists in Belgium!) and has perfected the craft of creating the ideal conditions for a delicious beer to brew, without alcohol. Prime Time is brewed with a trio of classic European hops; Saaz (Czech), Perle (German) and Hallertau (German), to give us floral, herbal and earthy aromas and bitter notes. We use a local pilsner malt that is naturally low in fermentable sugars and a signature Belgian yeast to give us a crisp, flavourful character. Our beer is then left to rest, gently filtered and then bottled for maximum retention of flavour. HOW DOES IT TASTE Visually: A bright, pale golden lager with a creamy, foamy head. On the Nose: The earthy, bitter hop aromas come bursting out. They combine with the spice and floral notes (created by the yeast and the malt) to deliver a nose rich in character and complexity. On the Palate: A balance of soft malts and assertive bitterness from the spicy, floral saaz hops. On the Finish: Nice and clean finish with great length. SUSTAINABILITY Freestar Prime Time is brewed to a low ABV using a variety of specialist techniques that create ideal brewing conditions without alcohol. This approach is not only great for flavour but also better for the planet. The more traditional and inefficient way of producing alcohol free beer is to brew beer to full strength and to then de-alcoholise it, often by boiling off the alcohol. The entire process requires lots of energy and water and creates a lot of waste. About Freestar Freestar make their beer completely differently. It’s made from the same things a regular beer is: malted barley, hops and water. They just skip the yeast and blend our beer as opposed to brewing it. Instead we use a banging mix of super high quality, hand selected natural ingredients to build up the flavour complexity. It’s our World-Beer-Award-winning secret sauce, it’s never been done before and it tastes ...in their not so humble opinion! Not only is our method great for flavour but it's also better for the planet. Because they don't go through the brewing or the the de-alcoholisation process they emit 90% less CO2, use 80% less water, 80% less energy and create 70% less waste than all other methods. It's part of the reason they're the world's first alcohol free beer to certify as a B Corp. How is this product Vegan Friendly? The drink is free from any animal products or derivatives. In addition the bottle, label and glue is also free from animal products. How is this low sugar and what about the carbs? As defined by governmental guidelines ow sugar means the drink contains less than 2.5g of sugar per 100mls. Products with a higher sugar content cause a spike in insulin and we react by storing more carbs as fat. You may also notice that although lower in sugar there is some carbs, this is usually more complex forms of sugar such as starches and fibre and the body uses these for energy. Alcohol Free Beers are made just like the alcoholic ones with water, yeast, hops and barley. Some are brewed to a lower ABV and some have the alcohol removed through various techniques. Across Europe beers below 0.5% ABV are classed as alcohol free. In the UK drinks that are between 0.05% and 0.5% ABV are classed as non-alcoholic.
