'In 1982 my band - The Wild Swans released our debut single The Revolutionary Spirit on Bill (KLF) Drummond's Zoo Records label - then home to The Teardrop Explodes and Echo and The Bunnymen. The music press loved it, John Peel played it to death, the future beckoned and of course, idiots that we were - we split up. We reformed, we split, we reformed with varying degrees of ever the bridesmaid success. In recent years the words Revolutionary Spirit have come to be used in the media to represent a particular strain of uplifting early 80's post-punk primarily from the North of England but also encompassing some of Scotland's more doomed romantics. When Iooking for a title for my soon to be published memoir, (Jawbone Press) I decided it was finally time to take back my own creation. The t-shirt graphics are a nod to the book jacket, but I also think that particular combination of words and colours make the 1 of 100 T-shirt an excellent political statement.' - Paul Simpson
