1 of 100 x nebo peklo! Delighted to be collaborating with local artist Natalie Tweedie / nebo peklo, celebrating one of Glasgow's most recognisable buildings and one very close to my heart as I attended a few night classes there early in my career. Hand printed by us in Glasgow.
'I love Glasgow and I’ve a soft spot for brutalist architecture so it was a logical choice to illustrate the former College of Building and Printing. Love it or hate it, you can’t deny its bold presence on the city’s skyline. It was also a logical choice to collaborate with fellow Southsider Richie to bring this design to life as a tshirt. “I love this design, as it has an elegant, minimalist style that perfectly illustrates the modernist elegance of the building. I’ve always had a soft spot for the building itself, towering as it does over George Square, as it began its life in the same year as me, 1961. I know not everyone embraces modernist architecture, and some modernist buildings in our city were poorly constructed for sure, but I’m glad that 1of100 is celebrating a period in the cultural development of Glasgow when the word ‘modern’ had some resonance, and people were looking towards the future with some degree of optimism.”
