About Stringers Music:

Stringers of Edinburgh is one of Scotland’s longest established and most respected musical instrument dealers. We supply violins, violas, cellos and bows of all levels and offer the highest standard in repair and restoration. Stringers London opened in 2007 and over the past thirteen years has grown to become one of London's leading violin dealers. In both shops, all of our staff members are proficient string players, many are former or current teachers, and always happy to help and advise. All instruments are set up by our team of expert restorers in our on-site workshops and played and assessed by staff before going on sale.

“The service was very good. Unfortunately the string did not arrive in time ( I knew that this might be a possibility)that's why I decided to wait until I have something important to play to put it on , as they are so expansive. I have been using Larsen Soloist A for all my career, so I expect it to meet the usual quality standard , once I will use it. Should something not be right with the string itself it will be down to Larsen and will not have anything to do with Stringers.”

“It makes a real difference that the staff are all musicians. We went to buy a violin; the staff took us through all the available instruments in our price range, giving us a bit of background and also the pro's and con's of each instrument. We were then left to try out and play all of the instruments before we settled on our final choice. (They also offered to give us a demonstration if we preferred.) We didn't feel under pressure to buy straight away, but in the end left with a beautiful instrument which should last my daughter for life. I bought my own violin around 10 years from Stringers and have no regrets at all. A real quality service from people who understand the instruments.”

“Fantastic service from start to finish. I emailed ahead of our visit for some advice and 10/10 for the speedy reply and information given. We arrived at the shop early and were seen to without hesitation from a lovely assistant who was both knowledgeable and friendly. My daughter felt comfortable with all the assistance given as she was measured and trying the violins. Buying and hiring options were explained well. We asked to leave the instrument while we went to the shops and collect later in the day this was no problem and we were fully accommodated. Overall a fantastic experience and we will certainly return when the next size instrument is required. (I’m really sorry I do not remember the assistants name but I’m sure she will remember helping out my 9year old and sharing her own experience of playing the chelo from a young age.)”

“I realised recently that it was time to upgrade to a more advanced viola for orchestral work, so dropped Stringers a line to arrange a tryout of instruments within my price range. As usual the staff responded to my note very quickly, and arranged for me to try out some models in their studio. I chose a Pierre Marcel instrument that is just fantastic! I thoroughly recommend shopping at Stringers, the staff really know their stuff, and are always helpful. I would not consider shopping for musical instruments anywhere else.”
