This is a warning review for two Dalvey compasses I recently ordered and the mistake that was made on the inside engravings that I received. Attached is an image of the exact wording I submitted utilizing their online form for my engravings, one for each of my son’s graduations. As you can see, I requested that it says, Bailey (insert emoji of graduation hat) Love, Mom & Dad. The other one said, Bryce (insert emoji of graduation hat) Love, Mom & Dad. As you can see, this is the wording on their form that I submitted while ordering, hence the screenshot I took of it per the attachment.
Also, attached is a second image of their mistake and the one word engraving I actually received instead of what I requested. It doesn't even say who the compasses are from. Really? I asked for a full refund for the engraving fee but the sales rep, Mr/Ms. Tuzarova was unprofessional refusing to give me any engraving refund, even after attaching a picture of my actual engraving order. Dalvey only accepted the first word of my engraving request, my son’s names which is clearly a mistake my them and extremely disappointing as I will now have to bring it somewhere else to finish the rest of the engraving. I no longer trust their services so I would not even consider sending it back to them to fix. I received NO email from them asking me about the details of my wording that I requested for the engraving and why they shortened the wording. I should be given a full refund on the engraving fee. Advice to others: do not use Dalvey's engravers. Have it done my someone local.”
The above is incorrect.
We receive order details directly from what is shown in the shopping bag. We can see the engraving details in our order system, where the engraving cannot be edited from our end. This order for tjhad was received with only first names to be engraved on each compass.
A confirmation email is sent after the purchase is complete with all the order details including the engraving details. The customer received this email showing that the engraving text consisted of the first name for each compass. The customer replied to the confirmation email, so they definitely received it.
We offered to add the desired engraving free of charge for the customer, despite the error being of their making.
The screenshot attached does not show the order submitted. The engraving can be added to an order and to shopping bag without completing the order. The screenshot does not represent a proof of how the order was submitted.
If any changes may need to be made to engraving (for instance, if we see an obvious typo) we contact our customers for confirmation before proceeding. Whole words would certainly not be removed form engraving without the prior knowledge of the customer. In addition, the engraving is checked by two engravers and there is a final inspection to verify that the engraving matches the order done in our stores before shipping.
This customer, tjhad, has been correctly charged by the website for the engraving of over 4 characters (5 – 20 characters) included in the order.
We could not offer free shipping for this process or a refund as the compasses were engraved exactly as per order.
