Cheddar First School, Y2 Teacher/History & RE Lead
“Charlie from West End in Schools provided fun, engaging and educational drama workshops to 6 different classes throughout the day. The workshops concluded with a whole group performance which allowed all classes involved to join in with each others' learning and enjoy a memorable experience. 'Poetry and Poppies' brought history to life and provided an opportunity for pupils to learn about and understand the meaning and significance of Remembrance Day. Thank you so much - highly recommend!”
Marshchapel Infant School, Executive Headteacher
“I asked my Year 5/6 class what they would take away from the experience. A lot said that they would take away how excited the soldiers were to go to war and then how depressed they became.
Other points that they enjoyed:
• opportunities for acting
• understanding how it felt to be part of the war
• loved the poetry that was chosen
Other children said:
''I liked how we had to do the different actions, it was very interesting'' Year 4
''I really enjoyed the group activities, working with my friends.'' Year 3
''Learning about what happened during WW1 and WW2 was fun to learn about'' Year 4
''I enjoyed the part where we had to copy the actions on the war posters'' Year 4
''I liked reading the poems and creating the freeze frames'' AML Year 3
Overall, a huge hit. Thank you!”
Kings Hall, Head Of English
“A really enjoyable day for the pupils. It is refreshing to have someone, who is not a teacher, who can bring that sense of the outside world to the pupils. Great subject knowledge by Charlie on Shakespeare and the pupils learned a lot from him.”
Thorngrove School, Head Of Lower School
“We enjoyed a day with West End in Schools yesterday. Daisy worked with children from Nursery up to Y4. Her energy and enthusiasm didn't drop all day and each session was aimed just right at the age of the children involved. It was great fun but we all learned a lot about the books too.”
Scawthorpe Sunnyfields Primary School
“Natalie was fantastic and her enthusiasm for dance was infectious. The children absolutely loved learning how to tell the story of The Ramayana through dance. They were all fully engaged in the sessions and talked enthusiastically about learning a new style of dance. It has really enriched our curriculum by providing a fun and purposeful activity for the children to experience.”
The Peterborough School, KS1 English Coodinator/KS Leader
“Please see email to Carys.”
Crazies Hill CofE Primary School, Year 3/4 Class Teacher
“The session was fantastic. Felicity was a great instructor and all of the children were engaged with the story and with the activities. There was a good mix of activities that kept the children active and focused.”
St Teresas Nursery And Preparatory School, Head Of English
“This is our 5th visit from West End in Schools, delivering their 'Bringing Books to Life' workshops as part of our Book Week celebrations. I cannot rate them highly enough. Every facilitator we have had has been outstanding - talented, enthusiastic, knowledgeable - and the children have responded brilliantly to them. Their workshops have been a fantastic way to think about books in a different way and have really enhanced our Book week programme of events.”
Burnley St Peters Church Of England Primary School, Deputy Head
“The dance workshop was engaging and was made accessible for all pupils. The dance teacher was professional and broke the sequence down into manageable steps for pupils to learn. All pupils enjoyed the workshop.”
Woodlands Primary School (11)
“Our whole school from nursery to P7 thoroughly enjoyed the dance workshop. The children were fully engaged throughout and even some reluctant dancers were joining in and loving the experience. The only complaint from the children was that they wanted more workshops and to have longer sessions - a good complaint to have! Thank you - the children are voting 5 stars!”
Reed First School, Headteacher
“West End in Schools from the start of the booking process, to the pure delight on the faces of the children at the end of the visit never fails to impress me. We were delighted to welcome Ollie to take all of our children from age 3 to 9 on a wonderful adventure of dance around the world. He was encouraging and inclusive. The children had a wonderful time and picked up the routines and steps remarkably quickly thanks to Ollie. Parents have since contacted me to pass on their thanks - the Haka has been passed on to parents too! We look forward to the next visit soon!

“A really excellent day which the children absolutely loved!
Many thanks!”
St Wulstans And St Edmunds Catholic Primary School And Nursery, Headteacher
“The children really enjoyed the Scrooge workshops! They loved the opportunity to explore the characters and create freeze frames. I think it would definitely be something we would like to do again in the future. Next time, I think it would be better for the older children to have longer with Alistair so they could really explore the characters more in-depth as I think they only really scratched the surface! Thanks to Alistair for doing a brilliant job.”
Bannockburn Primary School, Headteacher
“The representative from West End in Schools was a skilled dancer, who was full of energy and enthusiasm. Throughout the day Clara smiled and encouraged our children to really express themselves. Each workshop was broken down into small achievable dance moves, which Clara skillfully managed into a successful mini-dance production. Our only point for future development would be regarding the initial assembly presentation. The assembly lacked sufficient detail regarding Diwali; instead showing a wide variety of dance moves. It was also much shorter (only 15 mins) than we had been told (30 mins).”
Burley Oaks Primary School, Phase Leader/English Co-ordinator
“Well pitched activities for the different age groups. Rapid progress through the tasks with a good balance of skills, new learning and brief assessment of current knowledge. High quality whole school outcome by the end of the day. Well worth the investment.”
“Friendly, approachable, lovely manner with the children and really engaged both genders from all year groups. They understood the story so quickly and all abilities were able access the learning.”
Worlingham Church Of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School, Music Teacher
“Super organised. Mega enthusiastic practitioner. Children totally engaged. Everyone involved.”
“All the pupils from Classes 1 to Class 6 participated in and enjoyed an energetic motivational workshop based on Where the Wild Things Are. Sophie (the West End leader) was
inspirational and provided a positive environment.”
St Matthew Academy, Literacy Co-ordinator
“The children were extremely positive about the session, engaged throughout and really enjoyed working with the choreographer.”
Normanby Primary School (2), Headteacher
“Everything about this performance made us happy! The children (and staff) were involved in a panto which felt very personal, it was a magical experience which made us laugh-I've never seen so many smiling faces. It was very much a two way show, the actors involved the audience from the get go. I've booked them before and will book them again-thank you!”
Oaklands Infant School (2), Headteacher
“Nerine was super with the children - over flowing with enthusiasm with the children picked up on and responded to. The programme of dances was also very good, giving the children a good idea of how dance has changed and developed.”
St Joan Of Arc Primary School, English Manager
“The children got a lot out of the workshops which were well-organised and enjoyable. You communicated with use really effectively and planned your schedule around our needs. We'd definitely have you back - thank you!”
Gipsey Bridge Primary School, Headteacher
“Children and adults all thoroughly enjoyed Cinderella. There may have only been two cast members but they were able to successfully portray a multitude of characters successfully. A brilliant and festive afternoon.”
Lawford Church Of England Voluntary Aided Primary School, Headteacher
“We had a truly fabulous day learning about and performing 'A Midsummer Night's Dream.' The whole day was engaging and enjoyed by all from our youngest who are still only 4 to the Year 6 who handled the theme of love very well! Sean was brilliant and the children loved him and responded with enthusiasm and a sense of admiration for him.
We were a little unsure what to expect but we certainly do not have any reservations and will definitely be booking again in the future. I am sure it will become an annual event. One thing we will do differently next time is to build the play into the curriculum so that longer is spent in the lead up to it. Children worked on it during the day but teachers felt that they could have planned a whole unit on it and taught it over a week, culminating in the performance itself. Thank you, a memorable day for all.”
Wray Common Primary School, School Operations Co-ordinator
“All 3 classes were totally engaged and inspired by Daisy's wonderful enthusiasm and talent.
Daisy was very flexible and accommodating of our needs and we would definitely recommend West End in Schools to other people.
Thank you for an amazing experience.”

“children were engaged in the activity and all joined in with the dance. It is a great way to get the children interested in things such as dance and drama, thank you.”
Bewsey Lodge Primary School, Year 6 Teacher
“As a teacher I have taught drama myself but Kilka was stunning. She brought Shakespeare to life for the whole class; they thoroughly enjoyed the session and kept telling me how much they enjoyed it. I had goose bumps the entire time, watching the awe and wonder in the children's faces.”
