“I deeply regret hiring Phil and Outdoor Creations. The main feature I asked for in my garden was a wildlife pond—something that should have been a beautiful and functional focal point. What I ended up with was a £3,000 hole in the ground, filled with 10 large quarry stones and a poorly installed liner. This was supposed to be handled by an "expert" contractor Phil claimed to have worked with many times. If this is the quality he endorses, I have serious doubts about his standards or his honesty.
At no point during the design or construction did Phil demonstrate any understanding of the most basic issues related to Kent clay and proper drainage, despite it being discussed from the outset. When I raised my concerns, his solution was to throw in a pump and illegally drain the pond onto land that isn’t even mine. That’s not just lazy it's reckless and potentially illegal.
Let me be clear: Phil would have left my garden in this state had I not complained. No follow-up, no accountability. Just a massive hole and a shrug , same from the contractor who stated that it's Phil's problem!
And the problems didn’t stop with the pond. Trees were planted at completely the wrong time of year, during wet conditions, and unsurprisingly, one died not long after. Many of the plants used were wholly unsuitable for Kent clay soil, and they didn’t survive either. It’s painfully obvious that Outdoor Creations lacks the expertise or care required for proper horticulture.
In short, I felt like nothing more than a cash cow to both Outdoor Creations and their reccommended contractor. The entire experience was marked by incompetence, poor judgment, and a complete lack of aftercare. If you're considering hiring them, don’t -unless you’re prepared to throw thousands of pounds into a botched job and chase them to fix their mistakes.

“We found Outdoor Creations through the RHS website. We discussed the brief in detail with Kevin, who made some useful suggestions during the site visit. We wanted improved drainage and raised beds, as well as a new planting scheme and fencing. All the work was done really well, to brief, budget and timetable, even during some fairly appalling weather. All the work was thoroughly Covid-secure. We are delighted with the results, especially the extra design features, such as lighting which add a whole new life to the garden at night.”

Arts and Crafts house in the Surrey Hills located on an impossibly steep one acre plot.
The service on both occasions was exemplary and good humored - it had to be when the second build occurred during one of the wettest winters on record. Estimates were adhered to and if changes had to be made there was a discussion about it. In short we are delighted with our garden which feels so much a part of the landscape and have used Outdoor Creations subsequently to develop it further.”
