“Purchased for my 9 year old son (going into U10’s this season). Unfortunately seems to be let down by the chin strap which is just a cheap piece of double sided velcro. He finds it very itchy and uncomfortable and not what I expected from a £100 product. Almost seems like a design after thought. He was very excited to get it but now doesn’t want to wear it at his rugby summer camps (despite our very poor attempts to improve it), thus giving no head protection at all at the moment. Hope for future iterations this is improved and hopefully something is done retrospectively for previous purchasers.”

Hello and thank you so much for sharing this feedback with us. We agree that the current chin strap is rigid/scratchy and sometimes uncomfortable. To this point, over the next month, we have re-designed and will be shipping new, softer, and more comfortable straps to rectify this. We especially wish to validate the improvement with existing customers who find the current chinstraps difficult to wear. The plan is to send replacements to all customers with this concern. “We purchased the R1 for our son due to him suffering more frequent head blows and a subsequent concussion. His interest in the game was starting to drop as a result. Now after wearing the R1 in a number of matches he feels protected and as a result he is enjoying his game far more .”

“I'm really happy with the helmet, nice and comfy and feels good quality. The only reason I've taken off a star in this review is on the delivery, the labelling was so bad that it was amazing that the postman managed to deliver it.”

“Great helmet, I now have 3. It's great to have helmets that can grow with my kids and although pricey they will probably pay for themselves over the next few years when I don't need to buy another helmet. My only complaint is that the first helmet I ordered came with 2 compression straps because I ordered an extra one, if I'd have known their was one with it already I probably wouldn't have ordered it (maybe a what it comes with bit in the description would be nice)”

“I needed a little advice before my purchase and the member of staff at Hedkayse was very helpful and understanding. I made up my mind to purchase a helmet and it arrived very quickly, I was really impressed. It was also nicely packaged and arrived in perfect condition. I've been using it for a fortnight now and I am really pleased with it, it's very comfortable, is clearly a very high quality, durable item that I am proud to wear, and I also love the fact that it is made here in the UK. The reflective parts on it are also very good and I'm sure will help keep me safe when I'm riding after dark. I am really am very pleased with my Hedkayse helmet indeed, and highly recommend them.”

“Schön, praktisch im Alltag, extrem robust, hält seit mehreren Jahren. Durch die Möglichkeit des Zusammenfaltens wird der Helm zwar kein Raumwunder, aber einige Zentimeter gewinnt man im Rucksack dadurch schon.”

“Great look and feel! Fit is really good. Sorry for my unjustified expectations that the foam-parts would be more flexible. Actually they are quite stiff, so the helmet hardly changes shape e.g. when putting into a backpack. After a years use the (replaceable) cushioning disintegrates. Still very happy with the purchase.”

“Used about 5 days a week on average, very comfortable, no signs of wear apart from the Velcro inserts that do need to be replaced mainly due to perspiration. A good investment and great helmet.”

“I love my Hedkayse. Really comfortable to wear and strap adjustment is easy. Could use a brim, to help block the sun. Hopefully they'll offer a brim option in future versions.”

“The helmet is really cool for the kids, but for me it is to warm in the summer. I sweat all the time. With my short hair, the pads in the helmet don't last very long.”

“The four Hedkayse for my sister and her kids are being used for their first 2-week cycling trip along the River Loire. Kids don’t seem to be bothered by the weight of the helmet, instead they enjoy the view of various landscape and let Hedkayse take care of the safety of their head. They will be able to keep using their Hedkayse as they grow bigger while my sister and my mom share one Hedkayse.”
