I spent hours researching smokers, finally decided to go with the Yoder, number one reason it was “Made in America. Second reason, it was equipped with FireBoard pit controls, which I am very familiar with. After owning it for several weeks and several smoke sessions. I realize I certainly made the exact perfect choice for me, what a great smoker.

First of all I love my YS640s. But more importantly I LOVE THIS COMPANY! Never have I ever experienced such AMAZINGLY AWESOME customer service from a company. I have had 2 minor issues with my smoker in the past 2 years and they have sent me the part needed before even addressing my issue. I even emailed once to find out what touch up paint they recommend because the bottle that came with my smoker wouldn't spray. They send me a brand new can of paint without even telling me. Even if I didn't like my smoker as much as I do, I would still buy their products just for the customer service and how much they care about their customers. Fortunately they care just as much about their fantastic products as well and deliver extremely well build products without cutting corners.

If you want the best of the best; go Yoder! I had a Bradley electric smoker that used pucks to generate smoke. God forbid a puck gets stuck; the smoke shuts off! Don’t count on smoking overnight! After several failed smokes due to puck issue the Bradley went in the trash! After an intense research for the perfect smoker. Yoder was the winner. Once it arrived and seeing it first hand in person; this thing is a beast! It’s made like a tank and weights as much as one! I can tell you the Fireboad app is AWESOME!! I can control my smoker from anywhere I have signal to my cell phone. The smoker is so easy to use. I hardly ever use my oven anymore. Trust me; but the Yoder; you will not regret it! It’s worth every penny!

I purchased the YS640 smoker about a year ago. It takes a little getting use to but once I figured it out have to say it's my new favorite grill/smoker vs. gas or lump charcoal Egg. Also want to give a shout out to the Yoder customer support team. They have been very helpful with a couple issues I had. Response is timely and accurate. I'm a Yoder fan.

Will not control temperature close to set point. Temperature span runs 20-30 degrees below and then rises to 20-30 degrees above set point. It never settles in and holds close to set point. Customer service says it is working normal. After complaining they finally sent me a new temperature transducer which did nothing. I am very tired of dealing with customer support that keeps telling me nothing is wrong. They sell a product under false claims of performance, then won't support it when it fails to meet their claims.

Yoder Smokers takes the pellet smoker to new heights with the YS1500s Outlander! Taking what was already king with the YS1500s, with its stick-burner qualities, thick steel and cooking capabilities, and adding a massive pellet hopper, rugged wheels and smooth axle, Yoder has made the Outlander truly the best overall pick among pellet enthusiasts and gives true meaning to #WhyIYoder.

I just received my new Durango 20 this week, and I gotta say this unit is one of high quality for sure. I've built smokers, and grills myself over the years for my own use, and to help the local kids learn not only welding skills but how too-(cooking 101), along with knowing you can modify (grill and recipes) if need be to fit your needs. Now that they're grown and doing the same for there kids, I was looking for a quality heirloom that will outlast me, and will give my own grandkids some learning fun. Thank you for such a quality product that you guys in the shop have created. Will be seasoning her up immediately.

Purchased my 480 pellet grill a little over three years ago. Within the first year I started having problems with paint peeling. It has been non stop ever since trying to touch up. I plans to strip it down in the spring and hopefully put a good primer on it and stop the bleeding. I am very meticulous about my grills and keep them covered year round. The Broilmaster grill I bought 13 years ago looks and wears much better. The expensive Yoder cover I purchased with the smoker wore completely out within first three yeArs. I purchased a $25 cover on Amazon that would fit and is a much better product. Over all. I am not happy with my over priced purchase! The Green Mountain Pellet grill I had for 6 years before I bought my Yoder looks better and has held up better than my Yoder!

Browsed and studied the smoker grill market until I was blue in the face. Finally chose the Yoder YS640 and bit the bullet and bought one. A 350 lb box hit my driveway in about a day. Put it together with ease! Ordered a Wildfork Prime Brisket and went to school with the Meat Church guy on Youtube. Two days later I had conquered the illusive Brisket with flying colors. The Fireboard app made monitoring my cook a breeze. Can’t say enough about how well this thing is built and how well it cooks! 2 thumbs up👍👍 could not be happier.

I purchased a Y6640 S about a year ago, from my first cook I have had nothing but problems. After about the 3rd cook I noticed some drops of grease on the bottom shelf, I looked at the under-body of the grill and noticed grease buildup from the two bolts nearest the grease bucket. These bolts were installed at the factory NOT when I assembled the grill. I called Yoder customer service and they instructed me to re-caulk the bolts. for the first 4- 5 months I didn't have any other issues, then about month 6 , it would have huge temp swings,35-50f swings that would hold for at ;least 30 minutes before settling down to set temp I again contacted customer service, they assured me this was normal. it also would not go down to 150f even though it clearly states everywhere advertised it would, when i asked customer service i was told the grill would not go down to 150f and to use the top shelf because the lowest the grill would go was 175f. The next issue was the trap door, it warped even though i NEVER ran the grill higher the 400f with it installed. This was replaced without issue until it warped again about a week ago Then the fans, the fans stared going out about a month ago , they made high pitched whining noise. Those were just sent out for me to replace After all of the above , i had enough, I spoke to customer service several times and expressed my frustration and felt I should not be making all these repairs on a grill that wasn't even a year old and OVER $2300 .That went nowhere, I asked that the manager of the plant call me, this if course never happened. After the 3rd or 4th email asking a manager to call me finally I was provided the VP's info, I spoke to Joe the VP, nice enough guy, we went through the issues and he assured me he would make things rite including replacing the grill if needed. Joe and Joey ( customer service manager) went through some of my cooks and picked out the ones that did not have huge swings (even though i sent several with huge swing) and decided the grill was fine and I would just need to keep repairing the grill. Bottom line, i really wanted to buy American made and thought I would in return have something my kids would enjoy after I am gone. especially when your spending this kind of money. Yoder may have had a good product at one time and stood behind there products, those days appear to be gone. I strongly suggest spending your money elsewhere. After these next round of repairs I plan on selling the grill for whatever I can get for it and purchase a Lone Star Grillz

Update- the $129 cover that is designed to custom fit my Yoder smoker has now completely fallen apart. Don’t waste your money on this cover. A $40 large universal cover will do much better and has to last much longer. The longer I have owned my over priced Yoder the more disappointed I am . To bad because I originally thought it was a decent product!

I just want to give a shout out to ATBBQ and Yoder smokers customer service for the help on a Saturday, I emailed ATBBQ about my new Yoder wood fire oven after the first cook the paint was pealing off they emailed me back within 15 minutes and then Yoder responded within an hour letting me know I would have a new one shipped out on Monday. I then had an issue with the last two cooks, my inner fan wasn’t kicking on right away and my Yoder was born in 2021 so I emailed Yoder back and they said they would ship me a new inner fan with my oven hood on Monday, amazing customer service on both ends! I love the pizzas I’ve done on this wood fired oven!!

I may have received a bad unit. But, I have experienced severe drafting issues with my loaded Wichita purchased (6/2022). I have over 10 years experience with fire management and have never had the issues the Wichita has presented. Such as, tons of Smoke back flowing out of fire box, once the door is closed on fire box, the fire goes out shortly after, even if the damper is fully open. I have placed the coals center, back left and back right of fire box. Unit is inefficient, since the firebox door needs to stay wide open. burns thru splits 15-17min on average. Which is a nightmare on long cooks. I purchased a custom yoder smoke stack 2x the size of the original for $300 hoping to improve drafting, which allowed me to close the door a little more and extends split life to about 20min. Yoder claims splits should last 30-45min. Overall, it’s been a very frustrating experience, from yoder forgetting the grill grates to needing to paint my smoke stack because they forgot and I wishing I would have went with my gut and purchased the fat stackz or millscale. The unit is built solid and has quality welds but has to many operational design flaws. They’ve lost any future business of mine. FYI - I communicated my issues 3 weeks prior to this review with no response .

Very dependable smoker, easy to clean, large enough to accommodate almost anything I want to smoke. Pellet capacity is large enough to smoke a large brisket overnight. Aside from smoking meat, I enjoy making jerky with the Yoder. I have owned mine since late 2018 and aside from a small thermostat issue it has performed flawlessly. I own Yoder # 39239 Manufactured 06/14/2018.

worst back yard investment I have ever made. didn't work right from day 1. neither the company or the retailer are taking accountability for faulty product. all they offer is to send parts and ask me to try to repair. have spent 6 hours replacing parts and it still doesn't work correctly. they refuse to fix themselves or replace the product. save your money or buy from another manufacturer
