“Mixed feelings about these.
Plus:
- compatible with Home Assistant,
- S2 authenticated,
- relatively quiet,
- the battery lifetime is good and it's easy to recharge,
- aesthetically pleasing, modern look
Cons:
- Does not report valve opening percentage. It does flag whether heat is required to maintain the set point, which you can use to drive your automations, but this is read only so you cannot directly close or open the valve.
- the mounting ring is plastic. It looks great, but if, like me, you've got old valves on your rads with very short threaded section, you will need to work very hard to install it and after a couple times the plastic thread will wear out. This is what happens to mine and I can no longer install it on some of the rads.”
“Easy to install and works well with the Fibaro Home Center 3. I have a few of these around my home to get bedrooms and bathrooms warm in the morning to make it easier to get up. I usually recharge them every 6 months or so (you get an alert from home center when the batteries start running low).”
“Plus:
Easy to install. Up an working on a Fibaro HC2 in minutes.
Turning the knob, led lights change as stated and set the temperature, but who can tell the difference between the colours, not me!
In the settings under advanced, you can change the frequency of temperature changes and interface to the Zwave unit
Interface and settings under Fibaro Home Centre and Mobile spot on.
Minus:
Unit has to be installed without security (had to raise a Fibaro support ticket to get to know this) to enable firmware upgrade
LED lights a bit useless, why did they not spend time and effort on a led numeric display
When I finally, removed and added without Security, the upgrade took over 15 minutes on my home network”
“I have lots of FIbaro stuff on my home network, with Smartthings as my hub. There was only one custom handler available for this product but it didn't work (unable t move the valve). I also tried it with a Fibaro Home Lite system and the the valve kept moving every 10 mins, even though the set point was closed of open. I contacted Fibaro support forum and they said it was a known issue (as at June 2018).”
