“It has a robust 40 ampere relay. I have been using these for many years now. I think from 2016. The older packaging was a brown packaging. I find the newer ones are more responsive even though technically they are all the same chip? I am not sure, they are all gen 5. In any case, I find the newer ones are more unlikely to drop connectins. I like them in any case. It can work with a few drivers, but I did manage to find a driver for Hubitat that seems to give me all options. I never knew that it even monitors the relay temperature! So you can set overheating alarms if you want to I guess? It seems to work well with Hunitat but not 100% perfect, so I have taken one star off. But I still like this switch and it is my favourite relay!!”
“Discounted by Vesternet it was a non-brainer. It is nicely integrated into my Home Assistant environment and switches the immersion heat on overnight - when electricity is cheap. What is more, it tracks the power consumption so I can tell how long it takes to heat up the water and therefore tune my automations. A great piece of kit. I may well be buyimg more of them.”
“Good very robust solid switch unit that is safe to put into your airing cupboard for your immersion heater. Overkill maybe, but 3 KW at 240Volts needs a suitable solution. Using it with C7 Hubitat. I want ALL the available variables for power monitoring and only some appearing default without the usual faffing.. I am using ALEXA to schedule water heating on / off.. and so far, it is working a treat.”

“After having various issues with other switches to control a 3kw immersion being at their limit (which were designed for that purpose such as SIR 321), I decided to abandon physical on switch boost etc, which I rarely used anyway and install this instead.
The Aeotec Heavy Duty switch has been 100% reliable and is a really good repeater for other devices too.
I just wish I had made the change sooner. I'd definitely recommend this not only for 3KW (which is only really 9a in the UK, but voltage variability alters this), but definitely for its main intended purpose indoors or outdoors.
If I installed an electric car charger i'd very likely install one of these, triggered on proximity/geolocation to disable the external charging plug capability when I was away from home.”
