“Zigbee Aduro Scene Remote
I am using this with a SmartThings hub as it is an officially supported button. I can confirm that it adds as a Zigbee Button using an Edge Driver. In the ST App it appears as four buttons; one for each of the buttons on the remote, plus a fifth which is triggered by any button press. There is only a "Pressed" action, so no "Held" or "Double Press" actions are possible. There is no battery level displayed.
When a button press action is configured it creates an ST Automation which which can turn on, turn off, or toggle on/off a device, or set a Scene etc.
The remote is rather like a more compact version of a Hue Dimmer and it can be docked in the supplied wall plate in a similar way, i.e. it is held in the dock with a magnet, which can also be used to attach the wall plate to a magnetic surface. The wall plate is 80 x 80 mm so not quite full UK size (86 x 86mm) but a little bigger than the wall plate supplied with a Hue Smart Button, so it might just cover a UK back box, but I have not tried this as I intend to use it as a hand held remote.
I did experience some confusion when using the ST App to add the remote, as the instructions for performing a factory reset followed by placing it in pairing mode, refer to the logical button numbers to be pressed and not the button labels on the remote. I also could not see where the remote LED indicator is located. The supplied User Manual (printed in very tiny text) makes no mention of the LED at all. However, it is mounted invisibly underneath the on/off button (top right corner) and does light green through it to confirm operation when a button is pressed, or when reset or in pairing mode.
In common with many other remotes, there is no provision for custom button labels , but there is sufficient white space for something like a P-touch label to be attached. I am using clear tape with black ink.”
What controller are you using (optional)?
Open Source Software
“I'm using this with Zigbee2MQTT. It pairs and works OK but there is something wrong with the battery level reporting. It varies between 90% and 10% randomly over a few hours. I've tried 2 new batteries with the same result. I don't know if it's the device itself reporting it incorrectly or Z2M not interpreting the data correctly, but it is a downside. It hasn't settled down even after a week or so.”
“The Aduro remote paired easily with my Hubitat. I needed to use the Aduro dimmer driver (which works as a 4-button controller anyway so no problems there). It is responsive and does the job pretty well. The main negative is that it doesn't report battery level so you can't automatically monitor it. This is quite a big fail in my view. The other slight negative is that build quality is pretty basic but really for the price, it's fine.”
