The Boundex Cuddle Box is a steel frame wrapped in foam and several layers of lycra. The overall impact of the Boundex Cuddle Box lies in the exceptional sensory motor experience it offers a child. In simple terms, the following support-to-development is observed as the child moves on the apparatus:
Triggers the child's drive to explore and challenge gravity using the total body
Elongation, activation, strengthening and grading core muscles of the body
Develops strength and stability of the shoulders, arms and hands through grasp, weight bearing, and weight shifting
Promotes 3 dimensional, refined movement of hands through expansion and gradation
Develops strength and stability of the pelvis, knees and feet through weight bearing, expansion, weight shift, and gradation, which leads to 3 dimensional, refined movement
Facilitates stability with mobility throughout the body (no fixing/holding or compensatory patterns)
Vestibular, somatosensory integration is promoted with each action for improving balance and coordination
Increases depth and variability of respiration/encourages vocalization
The child's movement actively facilitates integration of primitive reflexes allowing the emergence of 3 dimensional motor patterns
The child's movements develop controlled gradation of multiple muscle synergies, i.e. top/bottom, left/right, front/back, diagonal/rotational

The Boundex Cuddle Box is built to nurture their natural drive to grow, explore, and engage joyfully with their bodies The Cuddle Box provides unique, whole body sensory motor activity with Sensory Lycra. This product is not meant to heal or cure physical or mental disabilities. Is the Boundex Cuddle Box mobile? Can it store away?
Absolutely! The Boundex Cuddle Box was designed with parents and traveling therapists in mind. The frame quickly breaks down to fit nicely in the back of your car for easy transport or in your closet when not in use. It also includes a convenient storage/transport bag.
What is the weight limit for the Boundex Cuddle Box?
The Boundex Cuddle Box can be used for children up to 45kg, but tends to be most therapeutic for children between 9-18kg. Smaller, younger children have more opportunities for movement when using the Boundex Cuddle Box, increasing the benefits of the product. If you choose to use the product for a child over 18kg, we recommend adding a Teddy Bear Mat or other landing mat beneath the Boundex Cuddle Box. A good rule of thumb is, if the child can climb out of the product or sinks to the ground the product is no longer therapeutic.
What if my child is above the weight limit of 45kg?
If your child is at or above the weight limit we have a few alternative options depending on what type of sensory experience your child needs or wants.
If they want a bouncing experience you could look at the Hot Spot or even the foam Home Practice Mat.
If they want more of a soothing or calming experience you could consider our Air Barrel, as they could lay across it in different ways (VIDEO: Air Barrel in All Abilities Environment).
How do I clean the lycra?
Use the mesh fabric bag (included with the Boundex) to wash the layers of Lycra in a gentle cycle with like color fabrics and mild detergent. Harsh cleaners or bleach will discolor the fabric. Air dry or machine dry on a delicate cycle.
Do you offer replacement or spare sets of Lycra?
Yes, you can purchase a set of lycra here.
Should I tuck the skirt under the legs of the Boundex Cuddle Box frame?
No, we do not recommend tucking the blue skirt under the legs of the frame. The pressure of the rubber foot and frame leg will cause the lycra layer to break down over time, which would not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Additionally, by hooking the lycra over the feet, the rubber is no longer in contact with the ground and not able to provide the friction and stability intended.
Is the Boundex Cuddle Box intended for dynamic use?
No, we do not recommend the Cuddle Box for dynamic use, meaning agressive jumping or bouncing up and down. The intended purpose of the Boundex is for a sensory experience, giving a "cuddle" like feel. The soft lycra layers provide a safe place for children to simulate their proprioceptive systems, with activites such as rocking or rolling back and forth.
