“A ballpoint that I had looked forward to trying for quite some time - the prospect of a 0.28mm oil-based ink ballpoint sounded like the Holy Grail for me, given my writing style and preferences. Alas the Jetstream Edge was a monumental disappointment. In use the pen skips and stutters inconsistently, making a mockery of Uni's 'Super Ink', which is supposed to be "...smooth-flowing, water-resistant, fade-resistant and document-proof". It might be the latter three of that description, but smooth it is far from in my experience. The pen's build quality is satifyingly decent and in the hand it is well-balanced with the right amount of 'heft'. However those positives are outweighed by the sheer misery of using it. It is perfectly possible that I was just unlucky and got a pen with a faulty refill, but a quick web search turns up plenty of similar complaints about the pen's inability to do what Uni say it is supposed to. The impression made by the ink on the page is pale and lacking in depth, even allowing for the pen's unusually narrow tip. I have plenty of ballpoints that are close to the Jetstream in tip width terms that deliver the goods in a way this pen did not for me. At the price point that the Jetstream retails for, I expected so much more - a cheap Bic would actually be a better EDC, and they are at least consistent. Gripes aside, my thanks as always to The Journal Shop who supplied the pen - they are one of the best sellers on the web and my issues with the Jetstream is in no way a reflection on them.”
