“Not Fountain Pen Friendly: I use the plain paper version as a sketchbook. The size, number of pages and rigidity are perfectly acceptable. However, with my preferred media of fountain pen and Waterman's intense black ink, it's not the best. This paper isn't fountain pen friendly. On the plus side, I would recommend this as a really good, handheld sketchbook for dry media like pencil, chalk or ballpoint. For fountain pen sketchers, you'll have to look out for ghosting, bleed-through, absorption and spread of a mark... so a line of 0.3mm on good fountain pen paper is 0.5 on CIAK. An extra fine line also ghosts on CIAK, which is unacceptable on paper that's described as fountain pen friendly, extra fine lines deliver very little ink. The surface itself seems a touch rough and catchy with thinner nib tipping, too. Flex nibs respond the worst. Nevertheless, if you go through tons of paper this might be a viable option when it's on offer or sale price. For fountain pen users, the best hand held, value for money, pen and ink sketchbooks are the Moleskin art books. Unfortunately, the price for these is escalating massively. Other brands that offer equally good fountain paper are extortionately expensive. The CIAK sketchbook is third tier for pen and ink work but it's adequate if it's on sale price total and you go through lots of paper (I think my purchase was about 36% cheaper with the sale price and a store welcome purchase discount. I bought 4 in total).”
