About Stringers Music:

Stringers of Edinburgh is one of Scotland’s longest established and most respected musical instrument dealers. We supply violins, violas, cellos and bows of all levels and offer the highest standard in repair and restoration. Stringers London opened in 2007 and over the past thirteen years has grown to become one of London's leading violin dealers. In both shops, all of our staff members are proficient string players, many are former or current teachers, and always happy to help and advise. All instruments are set up by our team of expert restorers in our on-site workshops and played and assessed by staff before going on sale.

Fast and reliable service. Good value for money.
Helpful Report
I was removing my bow from my cello case and a slight knock resulted in the hair coming out of the tip of the bow with the wedge. The bow repair and rehair took over 6 weeks to be carried out and I would not recommend Stringers as a suitable place to get routine bow repairs and rehair to be carried out. I asked for a receipt when leaving the bow and they said they did not do that. I thought that their service was less than adequate and need to realise that customers are placing valuable and cherished items in their care and require a reasonable turn around as many professionals and keen amateurs play on a very regular basis.

Good morning, I'm sorry that you have had a bad experience while leaving your bow with us. First of all, we certainly do provide receipts for items and I will speak to the member of staff who booked in the repair, as this was clearly an error. With regard to the timescale, we understand that customers need a quick turnaround for their repairs and I'm very sorry it took so long to complete the repair on this occasion. We have now employed another restorer and the turnaround time is much quicker. Before Christmas there was a particularly long delay. If the bow had a knock, it's likely this has dislodged the hair from the bow. Please contact the shop directly and we will try to resolve this as quickly as possible for you. Many thanks, Kate Porter Manager
