After the Pirastro Flexocor strings were taken off the market, I had to experiment with other strings for my 1920 Mirecourt cello. While searching around I came across another cellist using Permanent normal on A and the rest Soloist strings. I tried that setup and the Soloist strings achieve the clearest and fastest response on G an C on my cello. However, the Soloist D string is in that combination too prominent and slightly metallic in sound. I have since replaced it with a normal Permanent string which is slightly softer. For now this seems to be a combination that is better on my cello than the previous experiment of Flexocor deluxe on A and the rest Permanent strings. The cello is louder altogether, there is some decay on the A string and G and C have a short clear response which cope with for example the Scherzo in Sibelius 2.
