The CPU built into the DC18RC charger communicates with the individual batteries and analyses its condition, the battery may have been abused by heat, overdischarging, or weathered by cycle-age. Makita Lithium-ion battery chargers evenly charge throughout all the cells in the battery, on discharging the battery draws evenly resulting in an optimum charge. Cells in some other brands of batteries are not charged evenly, resulting in cells not being used completely, so workloads are decreased at a charge. The Makita DC18RC analyses the data stored in the battery chip to decide on the best charging method at that time. Makita Forced Air Cooling Fan technology cools the battery during charging by forcing cool air through the battery' s built in air vents prolonging the life of the battery. The cooling system blows cool air into the battery & as a result when high temperatures occur in the battery it cools the battery so the life of the battery is extended + the charging process is accelerated as well. Built in sounds let you know charging status and completion. This innovative technology from Makita results in longer battery life. The DC18RC can charges a BL1830B 18v LXT 3.0Ah battery in approximately 22 minutes - and to the fullest charge.
