“Despite going one size up as suggested, it was impossible to put these on. They will be returned for a refund (less courier costs here and with courier cost costs also for my account).
The boots are made in Indonesia and clearly their size/shape is for the Asian market. Despite a considerable discount, even one size up is no use for me and I am not prepared to risk an exchange, with potentially the costs of courier here and back again.”
“I’ve been really impressed with the Chatham G2 sailing boots. They’re extremely well made, with high quality leather and solid stitching that feels built to last in proper marine conditions. Straight out of the box they felt supportive rather than stiff, and after a short break in they became very comfortable for all day wear.
Grip is excellent on wet decks and slipways, giving a really confident, stable feel underfoot when things are slippery. They are properly waterproof in use, which makes them ideal for gig racing and rowing launches — I can get boats in and out without ending up with wet feet. At the same time they’re surprisingly breathable, so feet don’t overheat during longer sessions or when moving around a lot.
The fit is secure around the ankle and calf, with enough adjustability to work over thick socks or layers. They also look smart enough to wear off the water, which is a bonus.
Overall, a dependable, comfortable, and well engineered boot that performs brilliantly for both sailing and gig rowing. Worth the investment.”
