“This eye gel is incredible. Since having my 2nd child I’ve developed painful eczema under my eyes and on my eyelids. I bought this on recommendation of the lady in the Brighton store. The first few times I put it on it did sting (I think that’s down to how bad my eczema was though). By Day 3 my eczema had noticeably gone down. I have been applying this about 4 times a day (this was my choice as it felt so nice). I’ve spent hundreds of pounds trying to get this eczema to go down and this is the first thing that has worked for me.”
“I was excited to try Wide Eye due to your products not being tested on animals and your consciousness about using glass containers (presumably to reduce plastic). Now I know this product does not claim to be vegan, and if you click on Marine collagen you do state exactly what is in it. But what is the point of not animal testing if you're going to put animals your products? Also fishing is one of the biggest contributors to plastic in the ocean, so why bother going to the effort of putting this in glass when you're contributing to plastic waste by supporting fishing? So much for an ethical company, which your values give the impression of. I'm annoyed at myself for not reading the ingredients list thoroughly and now I cannot bring myself to use this product or any other product from Wide Eye for that matter. Such a shame.”
Hi Anastasia,
Really sorry to hear you concerns with our decision to use Marine Collagen - We researched this area extremely thoroughly to see what would be both the most natural and sustainable type of collagen to use in our products. We found that plant based alternatives were generally quite heavily synthesised, therefor we decided these wouldn't be suitable. We then came across marine collagen which is a by-product of the fishing trade which would otherwise be discarded, we wouldn't use it if it was purposefully fished for. We are continually researching new ingredients and at the moment Marine Collagen seems like the most sustainable and ethical choice for the time being, however we are always on the lookout for the best option available!
I fully understand where you are coming from and I hope this gives a bit more insight in to why we choose to use marine collagen.
Thanks!
Sam
“This product is amazing and has become one of my daily skincare staples. I have sensitive skin and rosacea and find it does its job so well and is refreshing without any adverse reactions. I will definitely be trying more Wideye products. I also like company's ethics.”
“I read lots of great reviews for this product and as a tired pregnant Mum with an energetic toddler I was really excited about using this!
Unfortunately I suffer from dry skin and eczema and the eye gel stung like hell! I tried it a few times even when my eczema was mild but it still hurt my skin.
I cannot stand waste and refuse to throw away products so I am now using it all over my face at night time but avoiding the eyes. It’s still stings a little but not quite as bad.”
Hi Beck,
I'm really sorry to hear about the experience you've had with our Marine Collagen Eye Gel, it sounds to me like you may have unfortunately had an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients. We'd advise to stop using the product for the time being until you have consulted with a medical professional.
Please feel free to get in touch with us on info@wideye.co.uk for any further assistance and we will do our best to help.
Thanks,
Sam
“I have really sensitive skin and this is the first eye gel I’ve found that doesn’t irritate at all. It’s really soothing and helps reduce puffiness. I’m a bit young to comment on the anti-wrinkle effect but my Mum also uses it and said it has really helped. A little bit goes a long way too, one small jar lasts me about 6 months so great value for money!”
