The tuba looks beautiful. I like the sound and response in all registers, easy to get a note to play. There several physical features that have taken some time to resolve. A tuba rest was purchased because the instrument is so tall it cannot sit in my lap. I use a Hercules tuba stand. For reference my main tuba is a Yamaha 621 F tuba 5 valve. I also have several 6 valve tubas that I use, all of which sit comfortably in my lap when playing. I also have to use a Neotech tuba harness to hold the instrument because there is no way to hold the instrument while using the three left hand levers ,so a "make do" thumb brace was made out of clothesline rope was added for the thumb to help hold the horn along with the tuba harness. For my right hand the thumb brace is not placed quite correctly. On other instruments this thumb ring is on a threaded mount and can easily be turned for adjustment. As it is, the thumb lever for the first slide extender is in awkward position and in the way when trying to hold the instrument. I will evaluate this problem after several months playing the instrument but will probably have to have some physical adjustments made to correct this problem. The second valve slide extender will not open all the way because the mechanism hits a brace bar, preventing full extension. Maby not an issue, depending how much further the slide adjustment is actually needed to be for intonation adjustment. I had to apply Lock Tite to two small nuts that kept falling off when playing the instrument. The way the horn is built ,long and tall, seems to have made the sound clean , with less curves and loops, and so easy to drain water with only one water key. My Yamaha 621 makes water removal a challenge. Gary deBroekert
