The Leviathan is a different take on the British brass band BBb, it takes some getting used to as you need to blow it more like its orchestral counterparts rather than a traditional British BBb but once you learn that it is a very pleasing instrument to play. Lovely and free blowing and the rotary 4th valve is a welcome improvement over the standard piston - The bottom register feels as open as any other register now thanks to this.

Had the Leviathan a few days now and am getting used to the larger size instrument. It sounds like the lowest pipes on an organ - absolutely huge sound with very little effort. Wonderful tuba right across the range (and beyond!)!

Huge - fat - solid - beautifully crafted - did I mention huge? The Americans call this a BAT. B stands for 'big' T stands for 'tuba' join the dots. It's free blowing, ridiculously easy to reach super high notes....oh and that bottom end....silken. It's a wonderful horn and I've waited 40 years for a fully compensating 6/4 beast. I love it.

Once in a great while there is an extraordinary instrument that comes along and reminds you why you became a tuba player to begin with. This is such an instrument. The broad expansive voice of the Leviathan has a sound you can both hear and feel. This tuba is surprisingly nimble for an instrument of this size. Upper register really sings on this instrument! The large engraved valve button are a pleasant surprise as are the strap mounts that never Polk you in the side while playing! The 4th valve rotor is mounted mid ships and is easy to reach.- bigger bore for quick response! At long last a 6/4 auto compensating tuba. Brass Bands rejoice! Thank you Wessex, this is truly a game changer. Howard Miyata Associate Director Pacific Brass
