“I love this tuba! It's a beautiful horn, easy blowing, quick fingering and solid intonation. The workmanship is finely detailed with expert fit and finish. The 5th valve really helps with the lower notes. Well done Wessex!”

“I was happy to receive my Luzern Silver BBb tuba a week ago. I have played it pretty much every day since and I'm quite impressed with the sound, response, valve action and workmanship. Small details detract from the overall delivery in that I feel this horn was probably returned and then shipped to me. It was not in mint or pristine condition, with very minor scratches in the silver and a few hand prints. The travel case had a few mars on the outside with lint and styrofoam bits on the inside. I'm impressed with the sturdy case and wide wheels. I'm also thankful for the floor pad to rest the tuba on. One suggestion is to add a larger compartment inside the case for mouthpieces, cloths, lyre, tuner, etc. Personally, I would have preferred the finger paddles angled a little higher instead of a flat/depressed feeling. Overall a great horn and happy to keep it for a long time to come. (I plan to abandon my Yamaha Silver Neo 4-piston valve compensating tuba after 5 years. I found it to be stuffy, needed lots of air, and slow valve response.)”

“This is an absolute wonderful piece of a tuba! i speak for myself when i say it is quite wonderful, the build quality is nice, the finish looks great. And the best part of all, it plays beautiful. nice clean and crisp sound. The price is just ridiculous! I love it would absolutely recommend it for others to.”

“I’ve been talking with the folks at Wessex for the past year and a half; trying to decide on which tuba would be best for my daughter. We were not in position to purchase her a tuba in high school or while she was in undergrad. Everything was just so expensive for families on a tight budget especially with two kids in college. Last week our change had come. God had blessed us to be able to purchase the Wessex Luzern. My wife and I were away on a trip when it arrived. Our son videotaped our daughter’s response and it was priceless. She loves it! The sound is awesome with a great bottom sound especially with the 5 valves. It’s a great tuba with a great sound. Very good middle and upper register. The tuba is great but also is the staff. I’ve spoken with the Wessex staff on more than one occasion and Wessex team is awesome. And trust the pictures of the tubas on the website are very good but when you see one in your daughter’s or son’s hands that starting playing the tuba 11 years ago and now she has her very own. It’s absolutely priceless!!!”
