“My Viverna tuba is everything I hoped for in a fine full sized tuba. It’s probably a 5/4 sized instrument (a pleasant surprise!) that has quick a quick response, and I attribute it to the vented valves. It is definitely a great value also.”

“I could not be more pleased with my Viverna tuba. I wanted a pro-quality BBb horn and this fits the bill. The staff at Wessex were very polite and responsive to my questions and walked me through the order process. Shipping was surprisingly fast and I was relieved to see that the package arrived safely, with the Tuba packed very securely inside the box. The tuba itself is a joy to play. Intonation is excellent, the vented valves are outstanding, and the tuba has a nice full, round, American-style sound. Like other American-style tubas, water tends to collect in weird places, but there are a plethora of water valves on this instrument, so that isn't too much of an issue. One surprise is how big and heavy this tuba is. It is listed as a 4/4 but it feels and plays like a 5/4 all day long. This is a big boy - if you never used a tuba stand before you will consider it after playing this for a bit. The case is pretty beefy too and gig bags are unfortunately out of stock at this moment. But overall, I am impressed with the craftmanship and quality of this instrument and feel that is an excellent value. I am sure to be the coolest kid in my community bands.”

“Overall, I’m very pleased with the 5 valve BBb Viverna. The design and execution of the tubing ‘wrap’ is very well done. Expert craftsmanship. I’ve received many compliments about this tuba’s appearance. More importantly, it plays in tune through all registers. The vented valves are a blessing for playing legato and slurred passages. I’m a bit nonplussed as to its designation as “4/4.” The 5-valve CC Wyvern is nearly identical in size and shape: same bore, bell diameter, overall height, wrap, etc., and a couple pounds lighter, yet is listed as a 5/4 horn? One question: my horn has “TB480H” engraved on the 4th valve casing. Your website lists “TB480P” as the Viverna model number. Why is that? But again, the Viverna is a very fine instrument for the price. I'm happy with it.”

“I ordered this horn for my son who is a freshman in high school. I figured this would be a good instrument to get him through high school and college. I had high expectations but believe me they were greatly exceeded. This is the best BBb tuba I have ever played and my son absolutely loves it. The build quality and playing tone is far superior to the King he was playing on before. I highly recommend this instrument.”
