The instrument is marvelous. The only thing is the mouthpiece wich could be a better model even if we have to pay more

My training and experience is entirely with modern trombones; so I won't pretend any authority on how historically authentic the instrument is. It's got a rich sound towards the low end, mellow and horn-like towards the top end. If you lay into a low note, you can certainly make the instrument snap with a fair degree of brilliance...but at an overall dynamic that is more appropriate for smaller ensembles rather than a full orchestra. As for ergonomics, the instrument is *very* front heavy. My left hand tires quickly and I find myself carrying a substantial amount of weight on my right hand. As a result, it's not the most nimble in the slide. I find myself wondering if the little coil could be uncoiled, putting a bit more mass to the back and making the balance better. Intonation is what you'd expect from any Chinese horn. Expect to spend a bit of time with an electronic tuner while learning the ins and outs and then you're fine. For all that, it's unquestionably a fun instrument to play. Learning another set of slide positions goes quicker than one might expect. Print out (or type up) a position chart, put in the time, and you'll do fine. Recommended.
