“My interest in early trombone literature lead me to looking for a sackbut for recital programs and demonstrations (and my own trombone geek satisfaction). I was familiar with Wessex euphonium and tubas and found the website with other brass. The instrument is well built and for a “sackbut” it is very good. Compared to a modern tenor trombone, very different in response and sound quality, however, it is relatively easy to adapt and perform appropriately. The mouthpiece enclosed is very shallow with a sharp rim, but it does enable a better characteristic sound. The craftsmanship and engraving are nice added touches also. The service was truly wonderful. The instrument was shipped and at my door in only five days (from UK to US through customs etc.). Very satisfied with the instrument and all dealings with Wessex!”
