“In general, I have been extremely happy with my instruments from Wessex. I have this, a Wagner tuba and a German Tenor horn. I have also put a rotary cornet on order, and I am thinking about a rotary flugelhorn. The workmanship on the trumpet is impeccable. The valves are smooth and fast. I usually use stock mouthpieces, but I found that on this instrument and the Wagner tuba, I had to buy a different one-oddly, both schilke. This speaks more to my playing than the instrument. The only thing that took some getting used to was the effort needed to play. It takes me more wind than my other bass clef instruments, including a valve trombone, flugelbone, euphonium and the others listed above. Now, that might just be me. Again, I am very satisfied with this instrument. I plan to buy more instruments and I recommend Wessex to all my students.”
