“I had always wanted an instrument similar to a bass trumpet, although the ones that are in the shop where out of stock for a long period of time. This is a amazing substitute for a bass trumpet! The only slight complaint is that I have to oil the valves more than normal and the bell can get unscrewed somewhat easily. Besides that, incredible!”

“I’ve been playing a baritone horn for a few years, and I wanted to experiment with a trombone. Since I did not want to deal with a slide, I purchased this valve trombone. I went with the key of C version, as it is a bit smaller and lighter than the B flat version. Given the price point, I’m quite satisfied with this instrument. I think it has a nice trombone sound, and the valves allow me to easily switch between it and my baritone horn. My intent is to use this only occasionally, and it works well for that purpose. A more serious trombone enthusiast would probably prefer a normal slide instrument, although perhaps the valves would facilitate specific music pieces that require more rapid note transitions. It feels a bit heavy to hold for a long duration, and that is probably due to the valves and associated tubing. For my occasional use, that’s not a problem. Compared to my baritone, I’m finding it a bit more challenging to play some notes in tune – some are rather flat and require quite a bit of “lipping up”, but that may improve with more playing experience. I assume a slide trombone would allow for better intonation. The valves are smooth, but I may opt to put in stronger springs to allow for quicker response. With just one water key, I find that two of the tuning slides need to be removed to be drained. Three water keys would be ideal, but I usually only need to drain the two slides after I’m done playing. In summary, I’m quite satisfied with this instrument for my occasional use as a hobbyist, and the price is very reasonable.”
