It‘s cheap, so my expectations aren‘t very high. The slide is not going very smoothly and I can‘t get the lubing done such that it would feel like it‘s actually gliding on the water layer. That‘s the main critique though. It‘s still fun to play and would also make for a good decoration in the living room. Being used to trombone mouth pieces I bought it for fun and to explore a little. Cannot really judge sound and play feel yet.

Yours is the first complaint we have ever received about the slide out of literally hundreds sold, so do contact us for replacement as seems like you have unfortunately received a faulty trombone

I am very excited to learn how to play this Soprano Trombone. I am very into playing unique instruments and this Sopraone Trombone certainly fits into that category. We have a Wessex Mighty Midget Tuba that our son is very proud of owning so I know will like this Soprano Trombone.

I'd give it 4½ stars if I could (4¾?), I just can't -quite- go 5. The slide is just a little scratchy (I think polishing the inside of the outer slide will help), but also quite functional. Overall I'm very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this funky little horn. It's less awkward than I expected. The slide lock and bumper hand guard collars are a clean/simple design, but they feel a bit on the clunky side--probably only because they're a bit big on such a small horn though. I suspect that also makes them more effective than shrinking the standard tenor arrangement in terms of keeping the player's fingers from the nasty pinch that can happen if the guard doesn't keep them clear enough of the outer slide going into 1st position. I really like the curved grip bar on the receiver--comfortable and unique. Esthetically I think of it as a nod to King's elegant, signature bell brace--nice. Unlike the Jupiter I had long ago, this soprano is scaled down in the same proportions as a tenor, so the design maintains the familiar slide position references. This is one of the main reasons, I now recall, that I didn't keep the Jupiter (also, the slide hand bar was maybe 1-2 millimeters from the top end, which was awkward, and seemed to exaggerate the unwelcome distortion of the bell being somewhere around 5½th position or so--seems Jupiter oddly didn't bother to consult a trombonist when designing the thing--they'd do much better these days, I expect). I like my "Coliseum Trumpet" very much, but I like the more open way the soprano trombone plays. I'm having a little trouble keeping glissandos from slipping in without using register changes to avoid it, but I'm sure that will stop with practice. I expect that will also improve my tenor technique. Bottom line--this horn is well worth the money.

Very nice for a little horn and was delivered quite fast, the only thing is the slide comes a little slow/scratchy so you need to put a little work into getting it smooth.

This is a fantastic little instrument! Has a bright sound, the slide is 10/10, and is a big hit with the kids!

Very fun instrument! I'm a trombone player, not a trumpet player, so I'm still getting used to the different embouchure, but it's sounding pretty good already. The slide moves fairly well, especially once I put some lubricant on it. I had some problems opening the slide lock when I first got the instrument out, but it has worked as it should since then. Personally, I'll be using the instrument for mainly jazz purposes, as well as for novelty value. I'm looking forward to having more fun playing this tiny trombone! Also, the instrument came with a Wessex baseball cap. A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one!

I ordered the Wessex soprano trombone to play in my highschool jazz band, and have been very satisfied with my purchase. The instrument sounds fantastic, the instrument arrived in perfect condition, and the instrument is a blast to play. I would very highly recommend this product if you're in search of a soprano trombone.
