In my first week with the Wessex CC Helicon, I played three four-hour gigs, and it handled them like a champ. For a smaller horn, it delivers a solid, resonant tone that projects well. The extreme low range feels a bit stuffy and limited, but the upper register really sings — clear and expressive. Intonation was easy to dial in, with plenty of easily accessible slides. The horn is comfortable to hold and looks great on stage. My only concern is that the alloy feels somewhat fragile, so I handle it carefully. The included rolling case is a standard sousaphone-style design — functional, but a bit bulky to manage. Overall, it’s a great balance of sound, comfort, and visual appeal. A strong choice for players looking for a light, CC helicon that performs well in real-world gig settings. Oh, and the valve buttons have dragons on them...enough said.

I am getting used to the helicon. I have played 2 parades with it and it has good tone. The valves are comfortable and quick. The bell screw in back could be shifted. It can dig into my neck. All in all I am happy. Also, delivery from the date of ordering it was very swift !

The helicon and case arrived on time in good condition. The Helicon looks and sounds great and is easy to play. Intonation is good. I have a couple of suggestions: One of the tightening screws for the bell is located right where the horn sits on the shoulder. I use a pad, but it is still uncomfortable. I suggest moving the tightening screw. The case is fairly unwieldy, and cannot be easily moved through doors, as the wheels only work on the wide side of the case. I suggest either having swiveling casters, like on a suitcase, or another set of wheels to allow the case to be rolled along it's narrower side. I modified a 4 wheeled dolly with hold down straps to more easily move the case.
