Beautiful looking instrument. Seems of good quality. Purchased for a 7th grade student who seems to really like it.

Being a student, I don't really have much to compare the horn with. I was using and old hired horn with a substandard mouthpiece. The Wessex has a softer warmer tone than the instrument I was using. It is easier to play and I hope to be able to improve my playing with it. I am extremely happy to own this instrument.

I love everything about the horn, only thing that I had a problem with is that the mouthpiece recover is sized for a European shank mouthpiece instead of an American shank

Very happy with the horn and price. The horn sounds very good and has performed well for me in concerts. My horn does have it’s shortcomings and I have not played another Wessex double horn to judge if it is specific to my horn or general for the Wessex design: I’m in tune when all slides are fully in and nowhere to go if horn is cold and flat; the F horn is in tune up to the 2nd line G above which must switch to Bb horn to stay in tune; and valve lever edges are uncomfortably sharp and could be rounded slightly. These last two shortcomings are an easy adjustment.

Thank you for your feedback. We are always working to improve our horns further, so will take notice of your two shortcomings to correct in future production.

Loving my horn! I was a music major in college but had my horn stolen during a move. Came with duck foot and adjustable pinky hook. Mechanical linkage got stuck a few times but it seems to have loosened up and now it works very smoothly. Notes center nicely and blows freely throughout the range. Would buy again in a heartbeat if I needed another horn.
