“The instrument arrived relatively quickly after shipping. The quality of the finishes is very good, and the instrument case is well-made. I had an issue with the third piston initially, and later with the first piston, as they were getting stuck, even though they were clean and well-oiled with the oil provided along with the instrument. Upon closer inspection, I noticed friction marks on the pistons where they were getting stuck. I gently cleaned them with felt, and since then they have been working fine. Overall, I am satisfied. Good value for the price.”

“Purchased for playing trombone parts with a 40s style Big Band, mainly for ergonomic reasons since I can't manage the slide, the music charts, & seeing the conductor with a slide trombone. Every time we play for an audience, I get LOTS of questions from the audience, usually along the lines of "WHAT is THAT? Looks like a giant trumpet but sounds like a trombone!"”

“The 1st and 3rd valve are sticking and I've cleaned the valve casings and oiled them every day and yet they haven't improved. I emailed customer support multiple times with no response. I didn't have trouble with my Wessex Euphonium, so I'm really disappointed in this flugabone. I hope someone will contact me and help me get this resolved.”

“Plus: Plays as a true valve trombone. Consistent in sound, pressure and response. Minus: Valve response is dysfunctional. 3 is OK. 1 is too slow. 2 is unacceptable. Expected much better quality from a tuba company. Slide trombones I've received from Wessex have been very well made. This falls short of that quality.”
