“While the Davis VP2 is an extremely good weather station, the integrated design forces a compromise; temperature / humidity should be measured 1.25m above ground level whereas wind measurements should be taken at height away from obstructions. This anemometer transmitter enables you to achieve optimal siting for your instruments and therefore get the most accurate readings. I found it simple and straight-forward to install, indeed the transmitter is essentially the same as the one found on the ISS but with some improvement since I bought mine in 2006. Most notably its now easier to open and the addition of two gromets in the base simplify cable routing in comparison to the older model. Highly recommended if you want to split the anemometer from the ISS for the most accurate readings.”
