DAME Period Cup™ L Reviews

3.3 Rating 6 Reviews
I’ve tried to use this cup for two cycles now and it is just too soft, it doesn’t open upon inserting. I’ve tried different methods but it just doesn’t work. Surprisingly it has also changed its shape since I’ve used it which is extremely disappointing.

The main thing that drew me to Dame period cups was that they were self-sanitising. After accidentally dropping my last cup in the toilet I did a bit of research and finally made a decision to switch to Dame. I realised that the Dame cup was much firmer than the other cups I was used to, and I struggled to insert with the same "centrefold" method I'd used on other cups - it wouldn't pop open as easily. Took me a few changes, but I managed to figure it out. The firmness also had a benefit: there's much, much less mess when taking the cup out again. And not having to boil it in between periods? A literal dream. Looking forward to using my cup for many years to come

It is very easy to insert, but it doesn't unfold once inserted. I have tried so many different folds. Not sure if it is because the material is too soft or it is the wrong size, but I followed the sizing guidelines on the website. This is disappointing and frustrating as it is unusable if it won't unfold.

I absolutely LOVED mine when I got it. For the first time trying a cup, I had zero issues putting it in. It was so easy. Zero leaks. I was in Heaven. A few months in, and all of a sudden I cannot get it in for the life of me. Not sure what to do. That’s the only reason I left a star off.

I have used this cup for 2 cycles. I bought it because of the novel plastics which could reduce risks of bacteria latching onto the cup (I still clean it with water & soap though). Before this cup I used a mooncup for 7 years which at the time was pretty much all that was easily available. Compared to a mooncup the plastic strength is less so if you fold the cup too much it may not unfold once inside and it will leak. However the shape of the cup if inserted correctly is absolutely leakproof for me. I think it might depend on your shape because I always had leak problems with my mooncup. Very happy otherwise with my purchase but would recommend making a version that pops open a bit more easily for those with stronger pelvic muscles.

Total gamechanger. I'd been put off getting a menstrual cup by the whole boiling thing so as soon as I saw this cup I ordered it straight away. Unfortunately this was just after my period had finished so I've had to wait to try it out but today I got to try it out and I'm blown away. I have heavy periods so the fact it holds several tampons worth of blood is fantastic for me. I worried about mess but really since you're not changing it as after as pads or tampons I think it's less messy overall. Like one of the other reviewers said it's almost like I've not even been on my period today. Getting it out is the only tricky part for me, but I read some tips like bearing down like you're having a poo and that's helped. I'm recommending this to everyone!
