“We really like that they are biodegradable but the material feels very thin, so we are worried they will not last as long as our usual rubber gloves. (But they haven't split yet, after a month or so) However, the wrists on this size are huge and not very elasticated, so they just fall down and get in the way, which is a little disappointing. Unless the design changed, I don't think we would buy these again for that reason.”
Hi Emma,
Thank you for your review and for choosing Seep's products. I can only apologise for the problems you suffered, and provide you with some transparency.
These home-compostable gloves are completely new to the market (the first home-compostable rubber glove sold in the UK!) and as such, their thickness and lack of band were decisions made to ensure they are compostable.
We are currently looking to manufacture a thicker glove, potentially with a beaded band at the top to secure the wrist. However, this would affect its ease of compostability and, as per above, any changes are balanced and considered against the circularity and compostability of the product, nobody wants their 'eco' gloves to take thousands of years to break down!
I hope that clarity helps somewhat, and I hope that when we can offer our v.2 glove - you will be among the first to enjoy it!
Jack
“The grip on the gloves isn't brilliant, and they don't last very long. This makes them quite expensive to use all the time. They feel quite thin, which would be a good thing if they were strong too, but maybe it's the problem. I've even cut my fingernails, but I ended up with wet hands again today at washing up time.”
Hi there Rachel,
Thank you for your feedback on our gloves😊
Seep Rubber Gloves are one of the first natural rubber household gloves to market in the UK that have passed the biodegradability test and we are super proud of this. Our gloves feel lighter than other household gloves on the market because they have been specially developed to biodegrade.
We are sorry that they didn't hit the mark for you, we are constantly trying to improve our products so will take your feedback onboard.
“These are a little bit thinner than the gloves I used to buy but they have lasted just as long. I bought them because they are made of fair trade rubber and are compostable. They roll back a bit on themselves but are otherwise great.”
