Eco Sponge Scourers (4 sponges) Reviews

4.7 Rating 312 Reviews
Finally, a high quality and value for money, sustainable washing up sponge! So pleased to be able to finally cut the single use plastic, cheapo supermarket sponges. The sponge and loofa clean efficiently, bits of food don't seem to cling to it and they don't hold on to stains or smells. And what's more I can put it in the compost bin when it's done. I think it will last a while even though the loofah came away from the sponge on 2 edges after the first use - the only downside.

This is my first foray into sustainable washing up sponges, and I find these are good quality and attractive; best of all, they do a good job and seem to use less dish soap than conventional washing up sponges. The only downside is that the loofah makes the whole sponge quite stiff - I deliberately split the two halves and now use them separately as I find it more user-friendly this way. It'd be great if in future Seep had an option to buy the cellulose sponges and the loofah scourers as separate parts.

Hello Clara, thank you so much for your review! It's great to hear your feedback including your ideas for new products. We are looking at some variations at the moment including some cellulose only versions so watch this space :-)

Great size, choice of surfaces, doesn’t scratch but is effective...best of all, alongside its eco credentials is it doesn’t get stained with curry or bolognese. Wonderful x

I made the swap from plastic sponges as part of an effort to reduce plastic waste. I wasn't sure if a compostable sponge would be of good enough quality and robust enough for daily use. I shouldn't have worried, the quality really is fantastic! Much better than my old cheap plastic sponges. They are excellent at cleaning, super absorbent and quick drying. Great for cleaning down worktops too as they don't leave a trail of water behind. I definitely won't be swapping back, it's Seep from now on for me! Definitely recommend.

Looking to reduce reliance on single use plastics at home, I was keen to replace my plastic kitchen sponges and stumbled across this environmentally friendly alternative from Seep. The reviews were good and I’m a sucker for nice branding so I took a chance and ordered three packs - a one year supply based on Seep’s claim that each sponge should last for at least a month. One month later I can say that it was definitely worth it. I’m still on my first sponge, which, despite daily use and several cycles in the dishwasher for cleanliness, is starting to show signs of wear but is still perfectly usable. The quality is good, the loofah scourer is effective and I love the idea that once it reaches the end of its life it can be composted. Yes, they cost more than the cheap plastic ones we’re all used to, but so far they seem to be longer lasting and are of course better for the planet, so the old adage of ‘buy cheap, buy twice’ rings true. My conscience is now a little cleaner!

Been using this new product for a couple of weeks now. Slightly different size to the pads I've been used to, took a little getting used to. They work absolutely fine both the sponge part and the scourer and they seem well robust. They also look great which seems an odd thing to say about such a little kitchen item. Glad to have bought them and likely to re-order.

Fab idea and grateful for something like this to be on the market however on first use the two parts separated.

Hello Flora, Thank you for your review. I am so sorry to hear that your sponge separated. It definitely should not have done so. This is our first batch and some of the stitching of the two layers on a small number of sponges was a bit dodgy. They are sewn individually and the edges on a few were missed. We check all the sponges but I'm sorry to say that a few must have slipped through the cracks. Our next batch arriving shortly will have a double layer on stitching. I will message you to arrange another box to be delivered to you. So sorry again and for writing a decent review anyway, I'm not sure we deserved it on this occasion! Laura
