“expensive but worth it if you live in a cold place and want to run in the winter. Love the color and the feel, my go to piece of kit in the winter when it is cold, rainy, and or windy. Excellent!”
“It's a nice jacket but flimsy. Worn a handful of times and always find something that's failing. So far 3 clicks in the material from minor brushes with branches. Sinch cord pulled through the fastening when sinching. I've pushed the material from the clicks back through the garment and pushed the cord back through also. Just wary of pulling it now. Wore with a running vest once...I didn't do it again a the wear was visible after 1 run. Wouldn't recommend for any kind of run where branches/bushes might catch as it will certainly click. The most recent issue I've found is a torn cuff. No idea how that happened, just noticed it but wasn't surprised!
Also have a pair of tights which have come away at the ankle seam. Been intouch about that but advise £20 to fix the tights or do it yourself...ive done neither! I do like SOAR garments they just don't like me! lol. Nice fabrics and nice fits. Have other garments that have not had issues but they don't make some of them now e.g. Trail tops.”
Hi Graeme, thank you for the honest and detailed feedback. Trail-ready outerwear is a fine balance between lightness and durability, and your experience suggests we have more work to do. We have flagged your comments for review with our materials team. We appreciate your support.
“Excellent protective top for winter running. Keeps me nice and warm with only a merino base layer. The collar works well to keep everything warm inside and the hood is there when it gets really wet. Expensive but works really well - my go to winter top. Sizing is usual Soar sizing … Medium instead of my usual Small for other brands. Very happy with this (and like the Soar * Norda colour too)”
“I bought the winter anorak towards the end of last winter and then me and the anorak just sat there, looking at each other, indoors, for a year. Waiting. I did some incantations, tried to push the sky away, summon up some freezing foul weather, but to no avail. Spring, summer and autumn were here and other Soar products were more appropriate. But last weekend Storm Darragh hit, it was somewhere between a crossfire hurricane and driving rain outside and so the anorak was summoned. For reference, the 'feels like' temp was 3 degrees Celsius. I often run hot in running gear but the cold and the rain meant that wearing this next to skin was pretty much perfect. Hood up and with a running cap felt very snug and protected against the lashing cold rain and wind. Like a little warm, but not too warm, bubble. This was for a 5k parkrun, slow jog, and worked really well. In general I'd say in UK winter weather, Wooltech top for cold days and the winter anorak for cold and wet days.”
