A fantastic design from Barker, the hand-painted Valiant in dark navy, and vibrant blue. This shoe is finished in sumptuous calf leather with brogue detailing, perfect for the dual colour panelling that Barker has naturally tanned in rich, dark navy, and a vibrant electric blue. As a member of the ‘Creative Collection’ the colours are multi-tonal thanks to the hand-painted tanning process. Valiant is specifically designed for those that enjoy and appreciate quality. The base is a Goodyear welted construction, 7mm leather sole, for the refined finish and flexible comfortable wear. The interior is completely leather lined for a breathable atmosphere inside the shoe. The fitting is Last 446, with width fitting F. The Oxford style lacing provides less depth and adjustability in comparison to a derby. However, F is a relatively generous width fitting and offers a snug, comfortable fit for most types of feet. A superbly styled and high-quality piece of art, if not a piece of footwear.

Who we are and how is it that we came to be so passionate about shoes?
Like many classics our story revolves around one or two ambitious pioneers, a love affair, war, a family drama, conflict and its resolution. What laces this story together is a connection with the land, and a need to provide for the people of it.
Let’s set the scene of how our business was born. It’s 1905 and Thomas Rogerson sits concentrating over his tools in a shed at the end of a bridge in Rothbury. Motivated by the desire to win the hand of Isabelle, he needs to learn a trade. And so it was that he learnt to repair shepherd’s boots.
Skip forward over 100 years from this humble beginning, and here we are; from robust, carefully crafted tackety boots designed to tackle the heather hilltops, to on-trend trainers in a spectrum of colours, designed to tackle the concrete jungle! Originally sold under canvas at agricultural shows, by mail order or taken directly to farms. Now, displayed using bright light boxes in our high street stores, or sold via easy on-line orders that will arrive at your door.

Our mission now is to stock a vibrant and compelling choice of shoes, boots, sandals, slippers and bags. Made using traditional and progressive manufacturing techniques and a wide range of materials from Gore-Tex to vegetable tanned leathers, our selection is diverse. Ranging from fun, quirky, edgy and joyful designs, to sophisticated classics, to practical waterproof adventure shoes and boots for enjoying the hills.
Different from other footwear retailers in terms of the breadth of our range, we stock many styles that are unique to our business, including colour combinations, prints and lasts. Prioritising pricing, quality and comfort we work on the principle that well-made shoes wear better, are more of a pleasure to wear, and ultimately, are less wasteful.

The Rogerson’s ethos is one of positivity, and we aim to employ happy people who enjoy their work and convey this in their attitude to others. With weekly training on everything from leather, construction techniques and technical features, our staff aim to facilitate a friendly and efficient shopping experience and will go out of their way to bring you all the shoes you fancy trying on! Alternatively, one of our 120 strong team of keen beans will carefully parcel them up for your online orders. We dispatch from both our central warehouse in the pretty town of Peebles, and from our 13 busy stores across Scotland.
