This is my first venture into rc cars so was disappointed that this “ready to run” model does not come supplied with a charger. However, RCGeeks had this for sale cheaper than anywhere else which enabled me to add a budget charger to the purchase.
This car is so much fun and very fast, it has a good run time with the supplied battery. it’s also very well made and very strong,, this car can certainly take a beating and performs superbly on loose terrain. My one gripe is that the chassis/cover gathers and traps an unnerving amount of debris and stones around the electrics, prop shaft, steering components, motor and battery very quickly resulting in having to partially dismantle the car after every run. The chassis and component cover should offer better protection considering this a truggy designed for off-road use.
Overall, amazing value and so much fun. A message to anyone thinking of buying a BSD flux model is, “get one, you won’t regret it” but don’t forget you’ll need a charger !!

As my first venture into RC vehicles, going for the Onslaught was probably more of an intermediate step rather than that of a beginner. As a result the learning curve was steep. The main area to nerd-up on is the use of LiPo batteries which has been a bit of a concern. I recommend getting a LiPo safe bag and putting some other fire-proofing measures in place. If you take these steps there's not too much to be worried about. Having done some comparisons with NiMH batteries which are easier to manage, the performance and longevity (in play time) of the LiPo definitely puts NiMH in the shade. Running the truck with a fully charged 3200maH LiPo gets me about 30m runtime. First thing to note is that this car is fast. Poor to get off the mark but then quickly will hit some really high speeds. You need a pretty large space to run this, it's certainly not suitable for your average back garden! It is quite lightweight which I think affects the traction a fair amount. The vehicle is pretty sturdy and survived a few shunts before I had to do my first repair (one of the front suspension mounting screw sheared) which was a simple fix. There is lots of scope for fettling the setup for yourself but the out of the box setup is good enough making this good for novices and the more advanced. The ESC has programmable features such as setting the low voltage cut-off which is good for protecting your battery. The ground clearance is ok for racing but sometimes a little low for reliable crawling. The transmitter is a bit cheap feeling (lightweight and plasticky) but has been completely reliable. Lots of fun and probably the right balance of play and learning.
