“I bought this for my son for his 7th Birthday. We took it out of the box and we could already tell that this was a quality product. The build quality is excellent. It reminded me of a smaller version of the Tamiya car that I had in the 80’s (removable body shell with clips, removable battery with connector etc.). It’s been over 30 years since I had used an RC car and it was a nostalgic delight to see these features again. Granted, these features are probably still standard in the RC industry but hey, I’m 44 years old and it struck a chord with me.
We charged the battery for a couple of hours and started it up…….WOW! What a car! I was amazed at how fast this thing was. My son loved it. It took a beating over the next 20 minutes or so: from smashing straight into a fence at top speed to jumping off a 3 foot high trampoline. No breaks, no cracks, incredible. As all young children do on their Birthday when they have another 100 presents to play with, he decided that 20 minutes was enough so I brought the car in and charged the battery again. Whilst my son was preoccupied with other gifts, I wanted to try the car myself so that I could give a proper review of the product.
Speed: It’s fast. Faster than I expected for a car designed for an 8+ year child. I took my Tamiya Thundershot out to try to get a comparison and this Racing Wind Speed Buggy seemed faster. Very impressive.
Handling: Handles like a dream. As with any relatively quick off-road buggy that requires some form of ground clearance, there is always a chance of body roll when going around corners at high speed. However, this buggy handled high speed turning exceptionally well.
Battery Life: I used it for at least 25 minutes and it didn’t seem to get tired. I’m not sure how long it would last overall but a spare battery could offer a solution for extended play.
Build Quality: Excellent so far. The buggy has been put through it paces: It’s hit solid objects at top speed; jumped off a trampoline; driven through a puddle. Still works perfectly with no visible damage.
Overall: I was considering buying a more ‘mature’ RC car for myself recently. But after playing with this, I might get another one for myself! It’s so much fun and is very reasonably priced. I’m no expert in RC cars and this review is based on a novices interpretation of this hobby. But I had so much fun with it and that, to me, is the most important thing.”
“Brilliant fast fun car, HOWEVER I cannot recommend it as when it breaks which it will as as it very good fun RC Geeks don't stock replacement parts. As they themselves promote this car it is strange they do not stock spare parts.”
“Bought two of these for my twin boys and I have to admit they're great value for money, even at £60. They are quick, enjoyable and liable to take a tumble - so expect some suspension damage at some point. The booklet provided with the cars suggests that spare parts are plentiful when in fact they are not. If £60 of enjoyment over two weekends seems worth it, then it's a great buy. Sadly one of the cars are now useless.”
“Bought two of these, but one for a younger child. Broke within minutes, The cabin is so flimsy it just cracks at the slightest knock. Not as advertised to be able to be bashed! Customer service won't refund or replace. Don't waste your money.”
“Got this along with a RCG Racing Storm Riders 1/14 Buggy RTR Red and they are good to have races with. We've taken them to some car parks and football pitches so far and they're rapid.”
“Bought as first Rc for my son.
Lasted less than three outings on the last noticed it running low on one side and have been informed no spare part available.
Poor showing”
“Car is great and as described. A little frustrating that the shell has cracked already and that no replacements are currently available. Other than that a very good product and service.”
“This is a fantastic RC car that is relatively reasonable in price. It is really fast, and can go over long grass, stones etc. My 8 year old son has found the controls really intuitive and is very pleased indeed thank you.”
